Cooper just turned 9 months old and was neutered in the end of November. The last few days I have noticed red bumps on his chin. I first thought it was a sore from playing he tends to rub his face on the rug when playing ( My husband thought it may have beeb rug burn). However a few more sores have appeared.(only on his chin) I searched the forum and the acne posts seem to fit the description. He only drinks out of stainless steel bowls and is on Natural Balance sweet potato /chicken..
Is there anything I can give charlie to make his nosrtal pasages clearer..he has a cold? and is stuffed up ..
I've been around the boards here long enough now to have seen how amazing your knowledge about these animals truly is, and also how much you seem to care about them. When someone has an issue or a concern and they post it here, you are solidly and dependably there every time.
Kudos to you for that! Surely everyone that has benefitted from your experience and advice appreciates it..I know that I have!
Hi All,
Someone had contacted me asking if a bulldog could have a reaction to vaccination that would cause death. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they've heard of this happening. Dog had a seizure and died.
Thanks,

Any tips on how to collect from a 4 month on bitch?? We suspect a UTI and my Vet wants me to collect a urine sample but that is easier said than done. Does anyone have any suggestions that have worked for them?
well its news to me anyway. If you have been reading my posts for a while and/or know me personally, you know I advocate giving pain meds to senior dogs who are showing behavior signs of arthritis and the choices of meds vary. I have been giving Rimadyl to most of my bullies when they reach 7 or 8 or during that first winter season when they are acting slow or painful to rise, squat, or climb one stairway.
How do you know when the anal glands are full? My bulldog has not been 'scooting' but lately I've been noticing an ordor from his
"back door". I'm just curious if this warrants a trip to the vet tech, or if the anal glands know how to excreed when it is full. What, if any, 'dangers' do I need to be concern with.... ie exploding glands? Thanks.
Lately charlie has developed a hacking type of cough.. happens mostly when he is energenic.
The sitter seems to think its kennel cough, not sure where he would get it from and he had his kennel cough spray 7 mnths ago.
He seems fine beside this cough..he eats well ,plays..he wants to go to dog park but I told him he is stuck at home till I get this cleared up!.
Not a happy bulldog..
His daycare was closed for a bit of time, they had the "flue" and needed to close the place and disinfect, clean everything up.
eliza vomited this morning and collapsed. the "before breakfast" vomiting is not atypical, but the collapse is, and it scared the crap out of me. i'm petrified of either of these guys aspirating when that happens, and even more so now that she collapsed during the episode. i got her up and she continued to hack and retch for a long time... much longer than usual.
we're going to monitor her breathing for the next few days. i know i should look for shortness of breath, labored breathing, lots of coughing and lethargy.
I am considering changing Spanky's dog food from Iams Senior dry food to one with less grain. The sales clerk at Petco recommended Nature's Recipe. Does anyone use that brand?
