reactions to vaccinations

Hi All,
Someone had contacted me asking if a bulldog could have a reaction to vaccination that would cause death. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they've heard of this happening. Dog had a seizure and died.

Thanks,

I had a boston that her heart actually stopped..

they were able to revive her..
but she continued to still have a reaction days later..
i am very leary around shots tooo
i stay at the vets for at least a half hour is not longer after they shots.
My boston broke out in hives and in no time was in cardiac arrest..
scary stuff

Re: yes.....

when my Lace was a baby, she got her last set of vacinnes..from a vet..and immediately swelled up..
The vet took her home overnight and cared for lace .
I almost lost her..
I am so weary about vaccines now..

yes.....

as a vet tech i have seen it twice....its the same reaction as a person who is highly allergic to bee's and get stung...

i always have the rabies vaccine done first at a vet visit because wilson has such allergic reactions to different things...its the only vaccine i will do now thats he is over a year....
sadly the dogs go so fast their is nothing to save them....
so i would if your having vaccines done do them first and wait 15 min...to make sure their are no reactions...even dogs that have safely had vaccines before should wait 15 min after a shot....
so very sorry about the loss of your friends pet....

I've only had one bulldog react negatively to a vaccine

and it was the "H" in the DHLPP, so the next one the vet gave him was DA2LPP which was similar but, according to the vet at the time, easier on those dogs who had a negative reaction to the other. And I don't know if this is relevant but this dog was also epileptic, tho we didn't know that at the time of his puppy shots. He broke out in hives that same day and I took him back to the vet for a cortisone injection, as I recall.

Re: reactions to vaccinations

A friend's Bulldog bitch died as a result of a Rabies vaccination. She was 3 or 4 years old and hadn't previously shown a bad reaction to it.
Years ago a 4 month old puppy of mine reacted to a puppy shot by his head swelling up almost twice size - hustled him back to the Vet's asap and he ended up OK, but it was scary.
