charlie cough? help needed

Lately charlie has developed a hacking type of cough.. happens mostly when he is energenic.
The sitter seems to think its kennel cough, not sure where he would get it from and he had his kennel cough spray 7 mnths ago.
He seems fine beside this cough..he eats well ,plays..he wants to go to dog park but I told him he is stuck at home till I get this cleared up!.
Not a happy bulldog..
His daycare was closed for a bit of time, they had the "flue" and needed to close the place and disinfect, clean everything up.
His last day he was at the day care was over a week ago.
Any ideas what this is,,should I take him to the vets..
I was just going to monitor him and see if it goes away with time.
I am trying to not run to the vets for every sniffle.

Apple cider vinegar...

If you have a dog that has clear, watery discharge from the eyes, a runny nose, or coughs with a liquid sound, use ACV in his or her food. One teaspoon twice a day for a 50 lb. dog will do the job.

we just went through this with Stan the kennel cough vac does not protect against all strains. Stan caught it at a show as did a few of the other dogs he was crated near and took almost two weeks to the day to appear. Could also be the beginning of a uri

KC can take 1-2weeks to incubate...

but that doesn't mean he has it. I would agree, watch him and look for other possible symptoms such as decreased appetite, decreased energy, not necessarily increased body temperature but check for anything that he is coughing up, or is it a dry cough.
