After reading many articles on Bulldogs I have come across one question that many so called ethical breeders always say they put their dogs health first but yet I find that they breed their bitch to produce more than 3 litters in her lifetime. Most ethical breeders agree that 2-3 litters are the average. I'm finding that alot of big time show/breeders are just glorified puppymills. Only difference is they keep their bitches, dogs, and puppies in better living conditions than what we see on the news.
ok, so we switched Stella back to her regular food (we were trying to switch her to higher rated food)
i have been doing the MOM/peroxide/cornstarch mix for tear stains, but she is still goopy around the eyes and she has two spots on her leg and two on her face.
I don't know how to describe them, but the ones on her face seem like skin tags that the fur falls out of.
she occasionally itches her face and will lick her paws too.
Does it sound like allergies?
Does it take a while to clear up?
Hi All
Not sure if you remember me and Brutus, I have not posted in forever, I have so much going on right now, anyhoo I have a question about Brutus tail pocket
His tail is not tight, like I can clean in there, right now it is really red and cracked like dry skin and it is stinky, What is the best way to get it cleared up and is this a sign of anything else going on?
Usually I just wipe it out with a baby wipe and he goes on his way, this is the first time it has ever looked like this.
Thanks
Audreys tear stains and gooky nose rope are making me crazy! I read the info on it, (and BDW's tear stain page is wonderful), but I still end up not 100% certain WHY her face is a mess. I understand there is natural bacteria on a dogs' skin, and when that bacteria meets the constant moisture from running eyes it changes the color to brown. Makes sense that an antibiotic would clear it up, but does the antibiotic kill ALL bacteria at the same time?
put this on the medical board because it has to do with Gus being deaf.
HOW does a deaf dog bark at something ...like the cat, the car and so on.
is that just an instinct to bark.
I am going to ask the vet this as part of the deaf dog study... he does not hear it...
he also barks like crazy at the pedigree pal commerical. now he can not hear that dog on the commerical..but he can see it....
curious though....he would not bark cause the other dogs are barking..he can not hear the other dogs..
Has anyone had to either tack a cherry eye or have the gland removed altogether? I know that new research says that repositioning the gland is best but I've heard from those in the know that that doesn't always work and it's sometimes better to snip it out altogether. I really want to avoid putting my 13 week old under g. anesthesia if possible, especially if tacking it won't necessary work so I'm leaning toward snipping if it comes to that.
I want to "thank" all of you for your kind words and support, it means a lot. I know Moe went the way he was meant to go. Other times, when we fought the seizures, he struggled so... we have liquid valium that we would administer rectally just to get him to calm himself. When I found him he was lying with his hind feet tucked under his tummy, little head resting on his front paws with his little tounge out. Looked like he does when he'd been sleeping soundly. I know it was his time, there were no signs of seizure activity or struggle.
Help our 3 month old puppy is eating her pooop !!!!!
What can we do
A week ago tomorrow, we lost our little boy. Moe had struggled with a small, tight trachea, heart murmur grade 4/5 and seizure activity. Moe was on pheno, then potassium bromide and then a combination of both. Recently, due to no seizure activity and a bad reaction to both pheno and the potassium bromide he was on natural stress tabs. He was doing well, no clue that anything was wrong. On Tuesday morning we woke at 4:00 AM to take my husband in for cardiac surgery. We went to let our three bullies out to potty and found Moe dead in his crate.
I've noticed that Cartman can be a noisy breather at times. He's never had any issues with trying to catch his breath--he just sometimes gets noisy if he's excited or stressed. I've had his pallate and nares checked by 3 different vets, and they have told me that his pallate is fine and that he's just extra loud. Some days he's perfectly quiet. No matter whether he's noisy or not, he has tons of energy and he's able to go on walks every single day. He's never had any respiratory infections or distress.
