ok, so we switched Stella back to her regular food (we were trying to switch her to higher rated food)
i have been doing the MOM/peroxide/cornstarch mix for tear stains, but she is still goopy around the eyes and she has two spots on her leg and two on her face.
I don't know how to describe them, but the ones on her face seem like skin tags that the fur falls out of.
she occasionally itches her face and will lick her paws too.
Does it sound like allergies?
Does it take a while to clear up?
I ordered Dr. Pitcairns book but it is going to take 10 days, and then after that I will start cooking for her exclusively, and hopefully things will be even better for her.
Thank you!
I took some pics

Bella had this
My 1YO EB had these "Skin Tags" on her lip - I had to have them removed. SHe was scratching them and they would bleed. They were tested by cyto and they were non-cancerous - just growths of skin. I am working through the high end foods- EVO was horrible and made yeast and tears/goopiness much worse (along with significant gas), Cal Natural helped the yeast, but the tears are still bad (gas better).
maybe try another food..
New food along with a course of antibiotics (Keflex) for a couple of weeks. There is no quick fix. I have a dog that does well on Canidae Lamb and Rice. She gets infected ears on anything else. I have another dog who can't eat that food because it gives him crusty ears. Go figure.
Every dog is different. You just have to keep trying and keep a record of the ingredients of what you have tried and try to feed something as different as possible to the food she had the reaction to.
Try an alternate protein source like rabbit or duck or venison. Avoid rice or barley if she has had skin issues on a food that has those ingredients. Try Oatmeal based or potato.
It takes time, but in the end, when you find a food she thrives on, you can stick with that until she starts showing allergy signs. Yes, they do sometimes do well on a food and then develop and allergy!
Raw is another possibility. I haven't gone that route yet. If I only had one dog, I would probably try Primal or another prepared frozen raw.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

many people think that tears stains have to do with
the alkalinity and acidity in the body.. hence appear many times with food changes.. the tums is thought to help change this as is the acv (apple cider vinegar).. you can try the tums, one a day. You may need cephalexin from the vet if the spots are indeed staph. With out them it will continue to spread and can get out of hand :O(

ok so,
antibiotic ointment on the spots?
tums for the yeast?
She currently only gets filtered water.
How often do you clean food dishes? could there be a bacteria buildup from that?
I wash them 2x a week.
I think I will start washing them after each meal.
Thanks for your help!

She only gets purified water
we have a water cooler so, I don't think its the water.
But thank you for your response, I really appreciate it.

it looks like staph on the spots to me which would take
an antibiotic to clear up.. tear stains can be a pain. Sometimes purified water helps, others have given a tums a day, Tylan powder usually works very well but can ONLY be given after one year of age and all permanent teeth are in. It will discolor teeth if given to early :O)

Water- 3 pics.
It keeps going back to the water for me. I now use a Britta here is Buddy in 2 pics before and after using the Britta to filter their water. The little guy Brother in 1st and 3rd pics shows improvement. But I'm not a vet so if it's the winter months and weather, I wouldn't know that yet as this is my first Bulldogs, just reporting what seems to be happening here with my doggies.
