What does ears back mean?

Stella puts her ears back in several different situations,
If she is startled, listenening, or someone is walking behind her.

I am not sure if it just means she has heightend awareness, or if she is scared.
What about your Bullies?

There are different variations of ears back...

it could be fear/anxiety, but Hooch also does it in a different way when he is happy to see me. I will try to post a link to body language for you.
