WELL did not need a deaf dog study to teach me this about GUS...

Gus just does not like to be alone.
I am not sure if that is bulldog behaviour or deaf or both.lol.
but today was out raking gardens..and tied Gus to the front tree to watch me..
as long as he could see me..he would lie there and watch or catch a nap..but LONE behold..
he could not see me..and that BULLDOG scream starts. he is the best at it ...far better then Bella..hahahaha for that bulldog cry. go and pet him and he is fine. seems he has me trained well.
he is the same inside the house too. my new bulldog motto..."always be your Mom's eyesight and always on her mind"

also bulldogs make great conversation pieces. EVERY single neighbour was out today for a walk..and of course all of them have dogs too. EVERY single one had to stop and say HI to GUS. many of them are new people and no idea that Gus is deaf ..so had to go into the whole story of why and sign language and then of course do the whole bulldog story..the breed and so on. many of them had never seen a english bulldog..

so we are back in now both exhausted...
just a very light thread
very rough day on the board today
lots of prayers needs, good thoughts and of course a passing of Bentley and Beetle Juice..

will keep all the bullies in my thoughts that need them.

Gus is super loud and that is a thing with deaf dogs..

they are even louder then regular hearing dogs.
Gus is super loud too
he will ONLY bark though if it something that he wants..
he cries to just whine..lol

Bella and Gus both do that..too..they go before the BAG goes..lo

I have to get both bullies into the car before we head out somewhere first..or they will do that bulldog scream..both of them do that..
sounding more and more like that the bulldog norm..

if I am loading up the car and he sees the food go out, and his crate he justs howls, and whines, I am usually the one packing up the car, hd said it is just pitiful to hear him, lol, they sure are funny

That's what we call Stella's "warble". She only does it if we pack bags and then walk out the door without her. We started having to "pack" her first into the car so she wouldn't freak.

I started to kiss him so I do not startle him when he is sleeping. that I know is not good for deaf dogs so I just kiss his forhead and he is fine..
I think this is a bulldog thing and a deaf thing together maybe. Bella is not clingy like Gus. she is quite happy to at least sit on the other side of the room..lol

as long as Gus is close he is fine..

it is that bulldog cry that makes me laugh though..
he is soo pathetic..when he cries
he is also soo darn cute..
and I usually go and get him or pet him or something it seems
Gus is my shadow and love him dearly..
but he is always always close..

if she is left alone...I hear her barking crazy when I am outside...I try to get her to come into the back yard but she stands on the deck and continues to bark...

yea I think it is more of the bulldog thing too
Gus is always close
I can not even use the bathroom on my own without him there..at least Bella lets me do that..lol but not Gus.

Gus is soo vocal..makes me laugh. he is pittiful when he cries....you would think that there is something really wrong..not just that MOM is out of sight..lol
If you miss a vocal bully..I can send you Gus for a day or two..and you might change your mind..hahaha.
only kidding..being vocal is kinda cool in Gus.

I think that's a Bulldog thing...

Dolly stays with me at all times indoors or out. But Dolly isn't much of a talker. Our other Bullies were quite vocal and I kinda miss that. happy.gif
