The Trials and Tribulations of Maverick the Pillow Destroyer Extraordinaire

So, Maverick has a bad habit of destroying pillows left in his crate while we're at work. Although I'm not that concerned about the pillows I am concerned about him swallowing on some stuffing/material and getting a blockage.

To solve this pillow-shredding dilemma, we bought him a Kuranda bed... but of course, he guilted us in to putting a pillow on top of that Kuranda bed so he could rest in style. He's managed to take some chunks out of a couple more pillows during the day, so he's back to only his Kuranda bed.

Being the well-trained "mommy and daddy" we are, we of course put a pillow back in for the evenings and overnight. (I swear he's not spoiled happy.gif). This week I've been removing the pillow every morning, which has turned into the hilarious adventures of Maverick trying to find ways to keep his pillow in his bed. Its gone something like this:

Monday - go out for a pee... notice Mom taking pillow run and dive to try to stop her... Give mom stink eye for the rest of the morning

Tuesday - go out for a pee.... try to race Mom back to the pillow... almost made it

Wednesday - go out for a pee... try to race Mom back to the pillow... would have beat her, but she remembered to close the crate door

Thursday - Go out for a pee... one more diving attempt, I made it, but didn't catch enough pillow

Friday - Refuse to get out of crate so Mom can't take the pillow... get lured with cookies, but keep my back legs on the pillow so I can reverse quickly... finally get out for some steak!

This little guy keeps me on my toes!

They are too smart!

This is so funny!! My mom's dogs pull stuff like that. She has one inside dog and one who used to be an inside dog, but would refuse to come back in once she let her out, so she became an outside dog. Now that she doesn't have to go outside to go potty, she doesn't get a treat since she doesn't come in, but she knows the inside dog does. She'll hide around the side of the house, and when she hears the door open for Mom to let the inside dog back in, she'll run in front of him, snatch his treat, and take off back out the door! So bad!! Now, she gives them each a treat when the inside dog goes out to potty. happy.gif

Mmmm...Steak!

Way to go, Maverick!!! happy.gif

LOL! So cute!
What about putting two pillow cases...
one from each end so that it's not as easy
to get to the stuffing of the pillow?
Just a suggestion.
