I am looking at having to change Boogers food again. :O( He did BEAUTIFULLY when I put him on NB Duck and Potato last year. Since then, they changed the formula and I switched him to Fish and Sweet Potato and that helped but now he is just doing terribly again. Yeasty, dark gunk under his rope and horrible tear stains again. I just paid $58 for a 28lb bag of the Venison from NB but thats just insanely expensive and some people have had problems with crystals in the urine on that food... it's just not cuttin it. I have had it with Natural Balance and need to find something else. Believe me, I hate this. I wish they hadnt changed the duck and potato and we could have just been happy!
Wellness Core gave him really soft poop, and he needs grain-free so Im looking at Taste of the Wild (which I have always sworn I wouldnt feed because they are packaged at Diamond plants). The protien seems so high to me, but I dont know. I have heard people say that too much protien can cause head tremors? Is that right or do I have it wrong? Booger had a bout with head tremors once about a year ago and I NEVER want to go through that again! It was horrible. Does this seem too high to anyone else??
This is the TOTW Wetlands Fowl, but the Prairie Blend (I think it's called) is the same.

I am about at my wit's end with dog food.
Mines allergic to chicken too
he was on TOTW but became disinterested (no tremors). We switched to Wellness Simple Solutions and he is doing great on the fish one. Good luck.

I called NB before I started feeding him that,
and they said it wasnt. It wouldnt surprise me to find out that they were, but they told me they werent packaged by Diamond. At this point, I dont even care anymore. I just want a food that my boy does well on. I know he can be yeast-free and gunk-free because I have seen it. I just want to find something that does that for him again!
How long has he been on the TOTW?
When I first switched Booger over to NB, it was the Duck and Potato. It was literally one week and his tear stains were almost gone. Two weeks and you would have never known he had any. Under his rope was clean and NOT irritated. It was great for a long time. I didnt have to clean upder his rope but once a week, and even then it really didnt need it. Was perfect!
Then he started getting the tear stains back and I couldnt keep the gunk under his rope clean no matter how many times a day I cleaned it. That was when it came out that they had changed the formula. We switched to the Fish and Sweet Potato and that was fine for a while, but now its all back worse than ever.
I hate to tell you but...NB is co-packed by Diamond.
I will look into it..
We dont have a Costco here but I will certainly look into the others. Price is unfortunately an issue too. I just flat refuse to pay $58 for a 28lb bag of dog food! If I hadnt been out of food and needed some right then, I wouldnt have gotten the NB Venison. I didnt even look at the price and hauled the bag up to the counter. I almost choked when he told me how much.
yup... food prices are soaring :O(
It's ridiculous. I have half a mind to go back to the beginning and try Booger on Purina One. Its not grain free but honestly, he is having the yeasty gunky problems on NB and Canidae (though Canidae used to be AWESOME before they got cheap and changed it). So why am I feeding grain-free again? The whole point was to eliminate the tear stains and the gunk in his ears and under his rope. Here we are on grain-free food and he has those problems! My dogs dont get treats. No table scraps. No ANYTHING but dog food, and they get filtered watered. My dogs hate being outside so it keeps coming down to food.

I did feed this and loved the food. Since I've gone all RAW again I cut out the kibble. But if I ever go back to kibble I will definitely feed it again.
It is made by PetCurean which is a Candian company so it may be a little difficult to find. They did have a booth at the Portland show so They are probably trying to get more distributors in the US.

what about some other grain frees
the new Costco grain free? Some have posted about it, don't remember who or what the name of it is. I was gonna look into it but never bookmarked the post. Maybe a search will turn it up.
And, have you researched Now! Grain free. I think Deb Lemons feeds this or has tried it.

Let me know how it goes...
seems like a lot of us are having the same issues with NB nowadays. :O(
TOTW did give Boo head tremors, but it was a much higher protein
I fed her the Prairie Formula, which is around 42%. Also, a lot of people here have fed TOTW to their bulldogs without resulting in head tremors or other problems. It's probably just a matter of the individual dog's biochemisty, metabolism, etc.
But I can't give Boo any brand of grain free, so instead I just feed her food that has only good grains and none of the bad grains like wheat, corn, and soy.
All of these premium foods, tho, are getting ridiculously high in price. When I first started feeding Boo Wellness Super 5 Mix, Large Breed formula, the price was $55 for a 30 pound bag. That was less than a year ago and the price has gone up 3 times since then. Now it's $62, plus tax. That wouldn't be a problem if I only had one dog, but with 4 dogs, the bag doesn't even last a month.

I fed TOTW for a while and never had problems with head tremors
Mason did have yeast problems with it too. I only tried the Pacific Stream though because Mason couldn't have the other two formulas because they have chicken meal in them. Like I said before I am in the same situation as you and trying to find a new food for Mason. No luck so far for me because most of the grain free foods I have found either have chicken meal or eggs in them. I might end up trying the natural balance bison and sweet potato just to see how that does because I haven't tried any bison foods yet and at the moment can't find any other food to switch to
That's what I am currently feeding
I haven't made up my mind yet if I like it or not. Trace is yeasty right now but I don't know if it's from the TOTW or leftover from the NB. I'm not too concerned about the protein as long as they don't gain a bunch of weight.
Hey Kelly,
how long have they been on it? I HATE HATE HATE dark tearstains, and I am trying my best to get rid of them again. Tearstains and a gunky nose-rope are kickin my butt right now. Your dogs' faces always look so pretty and clean. I have always heard that Iams will pile the weight on them. Is there a certain formula you are using (weight management, etc) or just plain ole Lamb and Rice?
I am feeding my guys and gals Iams Lamb and Rice...
I don't have the nasty ears or wrinkles. I used to feed Natural Balance but it just gave my dogs yeasty ears and their coats weren't slick and shiney...
I am very happy with my decision to swap.

head tremors
Spike had them while on this food. TOTW. Took him off everything stopped which was really good for me because the next step was taking him on a two hour trip to a specialist to do brain scans, etc. He's fine now. He is on California Natural 21 % protein.
Re: "Now" .. Made by PetCurean
Taro is on this food too. it works very well n i can see improvement after 3 - 4weeks time.
