Thanks for all the good info today, everyone. =)

I really appreciate it. I had no idea how common it was for everyone to bring their dogs home after spay/neuters. happy.gif That made me feel much better.

Also, I'm fascinated by how many of you mentioned this "spay after first heat" theory as this was a new bit of information to me a few months ago. I grew up with girl dogs, but when I had my own dogs as an adult, they were boys. happy.gif So, spaying is foreign territory for me!

All very interesting food for thought. We'll see what my vet has to say on Wednesday. happy.gif

just do a search

on effects of early spay on bone cancer development. It will bring up a lot of information about it. It will also bring up information on altered growth, and altered athletic performance. There is a big difference in the benefits/risks of males vs females.
here is one study, that really doesn't make recommendations one way or another, it just gives her findings.
