Submitted by JennyAndBruce on April 21, 2010 - 12:39amstill not eating... it been 1 1/2 days without food... just tried some more canned food that i warmed up to make it smell more but no luck; didnt eat roasted turkey from the deli either....
i walked him across the street to our park and he tried to poop twice but nothing came out ! he is back to sleep now...seems to be a bit more alert though,if he would start eating and pooping now i would be the happiest person in the world lol .
at least he is drinking water and has not barfed since yesterday yay lol - also no bloating or other scary stuff like that.
surprisingly my regular bully vet and owner of the clinic ( where they didnt want to see me yesterday) called and left a message this morning to ask how bruce was doing !
ill talk to them later on and see where to go from here... i would prefer to let bruce rest here at home and simply keep trying to make him poop and eat !

BLOCKAGE
glad to see above post saying you are taking him in. A blockage can turn bad very fast. If he ate a toy or something and it is stuck somewhere between entrance and exit, it needs to be found and removed or you could lose him.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.
Not eating and not pooping is very serious.

I would be very concerned that
he is not eating and NOT pooping. Trying and not pooping is a big indication there is a blockage, then add the vomitting I would be getting xrays. If xrays show lots of gas then a barrium test is in order.

If he's drinking then he has enough fluids in his system to combate constipation...and not eating for 2 days sounds more like a bellyache. I don't see how you can avoid a vet visit.
well if he had some type of bowel obstruction..would not be a go

also maybe a pepcid people on the board have given for an upset tummy
sounds more upset to me if he is refusing to eat..

Did you try giving him some pepto?
i would worry about an obstruction, if not then it definitely sounds like upset tummy and some pepto might help with that.

is there anything that he totally LOVES to eat???
maybe a new type of can of dogfood or something
hamburger and rice would be easy on his tummy
or homemade chicken and rice..
wander if that is a good idea to try
sounds like he has an upset tummy...
wander if that is why he is appetite is so off
he will have to go and see the vet if he does not start to eat something soon though..
odd for a bulldog to go right off their food..
I know when Bella lost her appetite it was because of an upset stomach..
