Can I ask what procedure he's doing? If it's debriding (i.e. re-scratching the ulcer to stimulate healing), she doesn't need to be put under. Stella had this and they just gave her a topical for the eye and held her still - it takes two seconds.

As for the crystals, we had that problem too. We switched Stella the the Royal Canine Urinary SO food and - problem solved!

I forget what the procedure is called, but they did something to the eye to help the healing process. The vet tried debriding (sp?) it two weeks ago and there was no improvement. So today she put her under and did something more drastic.

Belle is miserable. She panted all the way home and is just sitting in a corner not wanting to be comforted or touched. She hates "the cone of shame" (that's what my husband calls the e-collar.) I'm hoping most of her problem is that she hates the cone and not that her eye hurts.

I had to put Atropine drops and Cipro----? drops in her eye and she went crazy trying to scratch it. I have to do that every 4 hours. I let her walk out to potty and she ran straight for the bushes and planted her face in them. Ugh! I was right there to grab her, so I don't think she hurt herself. I'm going to have to xpen a potty area for her.

Sure hope she's feeling better tomorrow.

i feel for you as i am having the same problem with charlie...spent over a grand on eye problems...thougt everything was fixed and guess what another ulcer....my vet is like how can he be having problems.....were going to do meds for 2 months again...but we have to go in every two weeks...to get it stained to make sure it is healing...and not getting worse...
so good thoughts and good luck....

She is a strong girl and will be ok.
You keep your chin up and give her LOTS of extra lovin when she is back home!
