sores on bulldog

Hi All,

We took our dog Beefy to the vet and she stated he had allergies and gave him some antibiotics. His sores were getting better, but we noticed they got worse over the last 2 days. I posted some pictures below. Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks!

Heather

yes bruno gets them

one thing I did change was to a glass water bowl instead of stainless steel. and also sometimes use the Micro Tek spray on them if they get really bad. good luck.

thank you so much

for your post. It worries me because he's losing his hair where his pimples are. Poor guy. We do use the stainless steel bowles. I'll just wipe his chin after he eats.

Rocco had this exactly

The vet said it's acne of sorts.
You have to make sure you clean your stainless steel bowls out (with antibacterial soap) every day. Both water and food bowls. I had to give Rocc antibiotics and wipes (like clearasil) and it went away after a week or so.

The most disturbing thing was the vet squeezed Rocc's chin and pus came out...I had no idea it was infected. So Check it out asap!

Spanky used to have them when he was younger

I wonder if it is hormonal, like pimples, because I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, Spanky hasn't had them for awhile. He just turned 3 in February.

Oh yeah...

My 13 year old bulldog started getting them at 7 years old...she crossed the rainbow bridge last year...but we did finally find out what it was and she didn't suffer with it anymore...

Sipke and Jackson gets that too

if they chew on a bone or rub their chine on the rug or their bedding.

Yep. Sophie gets them if ....

she drinks water and her chin stays wet:-) You can probably get tehm to heal faster if you make sure to wipe his chin each time he takes a drink.

Check out "teenage bulldog acne" on the Health Forum

Its not uncommon and there's been a lot written on this subject. The good news is that he will outgrow it but I cannot give you an exact date.
