sheding

Does every bulldog shed like crazy when there pups. and how often should i give my dog a bath. I ve been doing it like every 2 weeks but all of a sudden shes starting to shed a lot of hair. I did buy one of those perfume spray for dog and i put it on her but ever since she s been shedding a lot. what should I do

get a furminator...

it is a great brushing tool and they work wanders..especially on all the puppy fur. puppies loose the puppy fur before the big dog fur comes in.
the other thing is try the missing link. it is supposed to really help for dog hair as well. it is a supplement and available in most pet shops.

The oils really help with shedding?

Boris sheds like crazy! We bath him once a month roughly.. I brush him every morning and still there is hair everywhere. Good to know.

You could give her the Pet Skin Doctor Food Supplement. Julie do

all.It is Emu oil and a bit of Chicken oil. Emu oil works better than Fish Oil without the smell or the bad breath and farting/

A few suggestions

First of all, be sure when you shampoo that you are getting all of the soap off the dog, so rinse well and then rinse again. Bathing in the winter varies with each family: if you have a pup and they are still having "accidents" in housetraining then they need to be bathed weekly or bi-weekly but if the dog doesn't get into much dirt you may want to hold off in the winter months to a monthly bath...and resume a more frequent schedule as warm weather comes and dog is outside more.

Are you giving any supplements to this dog, and if so, do they include any "fish oil" or oil of any kind? That would be a good idea, and opinions around here range from high-quality canine vitamin supplements to human-grade fish oil capsule daily from Costco or WalMart...not only for nutritional boost but to help retard shedding.

Are you brushing or grooming your dog a few hours after the bath? Consider one of those rubber hand-held brushes or even using your hands, with long massaging strokes, to remove dead hair and do it in the garage or similar location so you don't have to vaccuum up the whole house.

Look closely at the dog's skin on his body and around the head...is it "thin" in just a few spots? You may be seeing signs of Mange, especially if there's redness to the skin or the dog appears "itchy"...and in that case, you will need to see your vet to begin treatment. If its just a few spots and not too irritated, oral medication would be the probable suggestion; if its pronounced and fairly wide-spread, then the vet may recommend a Rx-medicated dip, followed by oral meds...and of course, a recheck in about 3wks (usually needing more medication and another recheck in another 3wks).
