I don't feed raw but i know some BDW's do and i was talking with a person online the other day and he had told me that all dogs can eat raw chicken/beef bones without any problems and that all dogs should eat this way 100% of the time. I had read some RAW food stories on here that some had, had problems with the bones unless they were ground up. Is this true can all dogs eat the whole raw bones without problems? Just wondering...He told me i was mistaken that all dogs can't eat the full bones without problems...
Oh yea...
I feed the bones whole. No problem.

I have.....
raised 3 Great Danes, 1 Labrador and currently 1 Toy Poodle, 1 Beagle, and 2 Bulldogs all on Raw without any issues. People will have to feed the way that they are comfortable with. Choose the healthiest diet that you can and succeed with it. I don't knock the kibble diet, even though I know that all my dogs have seen less of the Vet since we fed Raw. My Vets don't agree with the Raw Diet but they don't treat me different either. I listen to their thoughts and say thanks for the advice, one dosen't even mention it at all. I have heard the stories about kibble and Raw, personally have never seen the negative issues that people like to bring up. My group has never had a problem with it and are absolute eager eaters. My Toy Poodle would rather have a Mc Donald's, Taco Bell, or some type of fast food though, imagine that from a Poodle!!!

everyone is going to have an opinion :)
I chop the bones into manageable pieces for Stella, she eats chicken thighs raw and t bone steaks raw right now.
I try to give her smaller pieces of bone to chew so she doesn't throw up because she tries to gobble them.
I have considered grinding them, but she loves to chew them so i haven't tried it yet.

Audrey goes crazy over chicken
she LOVES it! She can NOT chew the bones, we have to cut them for her, but she is in doggy heaven when she gets chicken.

well.....you're not mistaken
there are a LOT of people who think that because domestic dogs and wild wolves share 99% of the same mitochondrial dna, and it has been proven that domestic dogs' early origins were wolves, that that means they are in fact the same animal.
They feel that all doemstic dogs are wolves(funny how they never say that all wolves are domestic dogs)and therefore all dogs have to eat the same way as wolves.
They truly believe that if a wolf can do it, that means a domestic dog can do it too.
What they refuse to acknowldege is that there ARE MANY physiological differences between domestic dogs and wolves. Wolves and dogs over the past 14 or 15 THOUSAND years have developed on vastly different paths, and each has adapted to it's chosen path. They for some reason do not accept that.
Wolves have had to fend for themselves.
They have bigger skulls
They have bigger jaws
They have bigger teeth
They have a much stronger bite strength, for crunching through bone.
Common sense tells most of us that there are HUGE differences between different breeds of domestic dogs, never mind between domestic dogs and wolves.
Common sense also tells most of us that it is absolutely absurd to say that ALL dogs have the jaw structure to eat the exact same way. That is CRAZY. Of course they don't.
These die-hard dog is wolf people think that if their dogs gag and choke and have to eat-regurgitate-eat again, that is perfectly fine and is actually the BEST thing for their dog because since no one cuts food for a wolf, no one should cut food for a dog either.

Hi, we tried Bella wouldn't even try to eat it.. she did the pre
stores, in like patty form but we gave her like chicken etc and wouldn't go near it..
Hope everyone has a great day
I agree... Whatever works for you and your dogs!
Why can't people agree to disagree? I just hate when I read posts bashing either way - raw or kibble. Whatever you think is best for YOUR dog, and whatever works best for YOUR dog is the RIGHT THING.
I acutally don't talk about raw much anymore because I'm tired of fighting. I don't WANT a fight. I want to help. And when it no longer becomes easy, what's the point?

people are getting very rude on.....
raw feeding and even some members are getting very tired of it and trying to stop it....the whole point should be feeding your dog a healthy diet....it gets to the point where i will end up laghing at some of the stuff.....like i found 4 dead deer on the side of the road....4 squirrels fell right out of my tree....blah blah blah....and i dont even think half of it is true....
feeding raw to me is fun.....and how i feed bones to my dogs is how i do it....
i make a big thing in the morning for breakfast and dinner....
again the point is feeding a healthy diet....
maybe he'll hold his breath til then :-)
seriuosly how can people say that anything can be 100% applied to every dog on the planet?? That's just stupid

I agree...
Those hardcore RAW folks are a bit mean, the one that prompted the question i posted is still emailimg me telling me i'm an idiot because i say not all dogs can eat whole raw bones, and he won't stop til i admit he's right i guess,lol...

yes
I had to stop getting mail from the raw folk because I just could not STAND one more person telling me that my short-legged, short jawed, bred to be the sweetest animal alive bulldog is in fact a domesticated wolf.
Hello!?
She is about as much a wolf as human beings are chimpanzes!

Well you know how it is..
If you go to another forum about dogs the regulars there can get testy.. I simply answered a question a person had about their dog only wanting to eat raw chicken and no kibble or wet food. I suggested if they wanted to feed kibble some simple training techniques and got bashed all to hell and back for dissing feeding RAW,lol... i guess i should stay on BDW... I never intended to diss anything but i guess you can't win,lol...
LOL!
you don't know a THING about dogs huh?
some people....

Well this person said there was no need to grind them
because no dogs have problems eating them, and proceeded to tell me i knew nothing about dogs period.. I was a bit taken aback...lol
its not so much eating bone as,,,,,
as to how we decide to feed bone.....yes all dogs to the 2 lb kind can eat bone and diegest it just fine....
some people will feed a whole chicken....others like myself prefer to grind any bird bones....
i give whole lamb bones...they crunch them up and down they go...i also give rib bones to chew down....have never had a problem....
dogs have a much higher ph level then we do and a much shorter digestive tract....
so yes dogs can digest bones...we as their owners decide ow to feed it to them....
