Stig is getting pretty good at this peeing outside business, but we can stay outside all day, and he won't poop. We'll come back in, and within 5 or 10 minutes, he is crouching on the floor. I'll pick him up and say "Out! Out!" while I put him outside, and once we are outside he won't go. He sometimes has already gone a tiny bit before I can get him out, so I know he has to go. I know it will take some time, of course, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't something else I should be doing. I don't want to confuse the poor boy or reinforce the wrong things.

Re: Do you bring him to
I think this is part of the problem. My husband walks with him too much when he takes him out, while I stay in the same area so that he knows we aren't "going for a walk" or playing, we are there for a specific purpose. So, we took him out together earlier, and showed him an old poop we left there from earlier so that we could try this, and it worked! He picked a spot close to where he had gone before, and did his business, and then we both threw him a little party!
Do you bring him to
the same spot every time? That always helps.
Show him an old poop and give him the command so he gets used to what you're asking of him. =) LOL When he does poop say good poop or whatever command you want to say. Give him lots of treats and praise him tons - I used to do a happy dance for Onslow and make a huge deal.
