Problem with Farleys neuter.

Farley our Vizsla went in for neuter today. The vet called and said everything went well at noon. Then she called me back at 3 and said the swelling has increased and he has some bleeding from the site. They are putting a pressure bandage on and he will be staying overnight. They think he may have a small blood clotting disorder. Nothing showed up on the bloodtests they do prior to surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts. I pray he gets through this ok.

Keeping Farley in my thoughts...

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully this morning he'll be doing a lot better. Keep us posted!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Toby got a hematoma after his neuter

He was neutered at the same time he had the palette resection done. I was all worked up about the palette surgery, the neuter was not even on my radar. Well that dang neuter was the problem! He was so swollen and it looked just so painful. They iced it for several days (we were planning on him staying in the ICU at the vet school for a few days anyways) and when he came home, he was still swollen and the inside of his back legs were all bruised. sad.gif

It took a while to heal but he is totally fine now. He doesn't have any kind of clotting disorder that I am aware of. They said this happens occasionally with a neuter.

I hope your guy heals soon.

Oh no

Poor guy... Sounds like they have the situation under control though. Still, it will be nice to have him home tomorrow.

Hope the pressure-bandaging helps

and your vet may consider adding a Vitamin K shot to help clotting. This type response is more often seen in bitches when the uterine stump isn't tied-off sufficiently...but hope he responds well. happy.gif

Good thoughts for him

I'm sure they'll take good care of him there. Sorry he has to stay. =(
