Poll: Collars/Leashes

What do you use for a collar/leash for your bulldog?

We are currently using just a little nylon show lead for Maya but now that she's getting really BIG I say its too small to try to "control" her with. My husband is absolutely adament (sp?) about not using a standard collar and leash becaues he doesn't want the choking hazard that comes with it. We live in an apartment so she has to be on a leash every time we take her out to piddle (which still seems quite often as she is only 26 weeks old). I am begging for suggestions or some rational I can use with my husband.

Thanks!!

Re: Collars/Leashes

All of my dogs and all of the rescue dogs wear harnesses. All of the rescues that are adopted leave here wearing their harness. As Ce said, it is much easier to control them with a harness should a squabble break out. And there is no chance of choking with a harness. I use 6 foot leads.
Another thought for you is obedience training so that your baby learns to walk nicely on a lead.
Good Luck. Let us know what happens.

We also use a harness

and a normal leash. Buddy had no problem with it at all. It took me awhile to get used to the harness. All my other dogs have always had collars. We even had to have the lady in Petsmart show us how to put it on

we use harnesses (no neck choking)..and regular nylon leashes ..

walks an 20 footers for large play areas....
we do not normally leave the harness on in the house..except the first few weeks that we intoduce a newbie...it gives us something to pull them apart with without getting bit if needed...but once they all get along the harnesses are just for outside and travel...good luck...ce
