OT..update from surgery...gotta love false teeth..lol

so the new teeth went in part time the day that Canada won gold in men's hockey. not for long but they did go in. they hurt hurt hurt in the beginning..still do but not as bad.
I had put them in for a bit each day since then, and now they are in the whole day.
what a chore eating though.. a small hamburger at McDonalds that a bully can eat in one bite..lol takes me a hour to eat. but I at least I am trying.

not much new in the food department here. alot of mush but do try some new things here and there. first goal was the mc donalds hamburger, next was some sugarless gum the next week and now this week is a sandwhich toasted. the bread has to be super heavy ...and the filling soft.

the NEW TEETH are georgous though. gets lots of compliments on my teeth when I am out. most people have no idea they are not mine..lol but that is ok. I love the looks of them and that made it easier to leave them in..although the jaw is still really sore. that takes months to heal according to the dentist.

the rate of failure for full bottom dentures is about 80% according to the orthodontist..so guess I am doing pretty good considering the bite had to be fixed up with the jaw as well as the new teeth.

Told Bella too bad that bullies can not get NEW teeth..hahahhaha. her teeth are very crooked and she is missing some too..
MY teeth were sore and terrible..so the new ones are a nice change. could even smile at the hairdresser when she met Gus yesterday. Yes yes yes it is coming along

thanks for the support
the board is great..
Happy Saturday to everyone
on POOP duty today...new teeth or not..lol

hahahha NOT my house..lol...actually had my FIRST homecooked ham

will be awhile before peanut brittle..lol.
long while
but I am making some progress and actually can laugh through this now which is a good thing.

I seen a steak commerical on the tv last night and thought oh wow..would love that..but I know for now that is just a dream. just drool the same as my bulldogs..lol is about it for now..

I did make homemade hamburgers last night and they were fine. made me own and used a small bun. I had no issue with them. made them in the oven so they were softer.

thanks...yea totally agree...

it is getting better by the day
slow process though
my jaw had some pins put into it to bring the jaw up close to the top teeth..kinda hard to explain typing..lol. but before you could not see my bottom teeth but now you do all the time that I talk and smile.

I already had top dentures..Gerd ruined my teeth.... so I had top dentures since I was eighteen years old. the bottom ones I tried to keep. but oh well...on to better things now that they are all out. the new dentures are great looking.

I am still on a pretty mushy diet...but getting a bit better everyday like you said, learning to chew is a true experience for me since the dentist said that I likely never chewed my food right. I always broke my front teeth with my bite so really think it is more my jaw that needs to heal..as well as my gums.

black and blue ...been there and done that..
glad that most of the swelling is gone now
and the bruising
my gums are a bit black and blue in spots and a tiny part under the jaw too..

thanks for your response
goodluck to you too as well

Good for you Pat, it's a long process and yes they

hurt for awhile but the actual health benefits will out weight all this discomfort, much less how more attractive they make us look and feel.
My dentist broke my maxilla (jawbone) while pulling my teeth, (I thought someone had just shot my head off.) They went on ahead and put my teeth in and I had to wear them for 3 days except removing except to clean. I can tell you I was a site to see. Black eye, face, nose, mouth swollen, bruised down my neck. I was suppose to go back to work the next day and needless to say I was gone for a week, living on pain pills and soup. It's been almost 4 weeks now and I wear them all day and I'm still learning to chew and bite but everyday is alittle bit better. The added benefit is now my sinus don't hurt or the pressure. Get better soon it all so worth it.

Happy munching...

Where do I send the peanut brittle? happy.gif
