O/T..Good grief. A Tsunami warning has been issued for Hawaii. Lets be praying for them...
Submitted by AmyandSophia on April 20, 2010 - 11:38pmAfter the 8.8 earthquake hit Chile last night, now Hawaii is under a high level Tsunami warning. How very scary for them. Lets all keep this state in prayer and hope for the best...that it will not be a huge wave coming in. The one that hit in 1964 was smaller because of the area of the originating earthquake...up north along the Alaska front. This earthquake of last night originated in Chile, much more on an even plane with Hawaii. Lets hope the result isn't a horrible event.
And if it poops out before it gets there..awesome, but at least we as a country will have been praying for each other. That's gotta count for something!

My co-workers daughter and family are stationed at Pearl Harbor
Caron, my co-worker, is very concerned about her daughter and grand kids. I read the news here on BDW and told Caron about the warnings.
Ok, the boat is nixed from the prayer list....
But I will be praying for the safety of your dad. I, too, hope this will be a non-event.

Well, forget the boat
It was kind of funny when he asked where i heard the news and I told him BDW. He laughed at that one. He feels that the wave will lose it's power as so many have by the time it reaches them. But he did say that the island is treating this warning very serious.

Seriously though, I will sincerely be praying for his safety. Scary stuff indeed.

First of all, BDW is where I get my news..Tsunami Update
I called my Dad and family who lives in kauai. He said they have had warnings before, but this is the real deal. Everyone got reverse 911 calls at 4:45 and the wave is set to hit at 11:30 his time. While on the phone I could hear the sirens. My dad went down to tie up his boat extra extra good. He said they could get a wave from 10-131 fet. The cruise ships had to fuel up and leave at 6 a.m and the little town of Hanalei which is next to my dad is being evacuated up to his town.
My dad didn't seem worried and he is more worried about his boat than anything. He said that in Oahu guests in Honolulu are asked to go to higher floors.

It's on the East side of Oahu on the beach. We always worried about hearing those sirens and having to evacuate.

I have a co-worker with family in Bolivia and Chile..
She was scared to death when i told her what i saw on the news..Luckily so far all of her family is accounted for but her daughter's in-laws are from chile and she's not sure about them yet. Scary stuff...
