O/T - There was a horrible accident not far from us...

a dump truck crashed into 10 motorcyclists on the Carefree Hwy, killed three and the rest are critical. Apparently the truck driver was looking through paperwork while he was driving and just plowed right into them. We travel that street all the time, I feel so bad for those people.

Clarify.

I left Chaparral in my Junior year when my mom moved us to Sun Valley, Idaho. I finished high school there. I always call Chaparral my school though because I grew up with all the kids there, and even go to the high school reunions they have:-) I never thought of Idaho as home...just Scottsdale.

Which one?

Come on, gotta share! I didn't know the Dial building was gone. Bummer. Had a friend whose dad or someone worked there....a long time ago, and I don't really remember much about it now. I always thought it was cool that it was there though for some reason.

OMG Prayers for those in critical and prayers for the families.

That is just horrible and so senseless because it was preventable.

We lived in PV when I was a little kid.

It wasn't all fancy and high end then. I grew up on 53rd Street and Mockingbird Lane. Now, that property is 2 million just to look at, unbelievable! My mom and dad bought our home there for 32,000. My mom sold it for 78,000. The last time it sold was for 800,000 some, and now, if it were on the market, it would be about 1.5 million. Shoulda kept that dang house:-) We have the same neighbors who still live there that were in the hood back then, and they are all holding onto their houses. Worth too much to sell they say!

I went to Cocopah until the 4th grade, and then they had built Cherokee that summer and we went there...it was a within walking distance for me and that was kind of fun:-) I lived just south of Lone Mountain off Scottsdale Road. I miss it SO much:-( I think I have said that several times lately!!

My Principal was Mr. Smith, my Vice Principal Mr. Krikard. My daughter wen to Chaparral too, Mr. Krikard was principal then. He remembered me:-(!! Your boys would know him too, he has been there for years.

Wait! What did you do in the airpark?? I worked for Becket Aviat

My brother and sis in law have an office in the airpark and have had for a long time too:-) Cool Beans! My daughter worked at Rawhide the year before they closed. I lived off Scottsdale Road on Lowden, just south of Lone Mountain, and 4 streets north of Dixileta:-) We moved 5 years ago last November from there, so we were actually close neighbors and didn't even know it:-)

Wow, you guys would have been neighbors of mine!

We live about a mile south of Carefree Hwy on Cave Creek Road and Ashler Hills. Amy, my sons both graduated from Chapparal, one in 87 and the other in 97 and both went to Cocopah!

Re: Hey, I am an old time native to that area too:-)

Lived at 60th & Dixileta for about 20 years . Worked in the airpark in Scottsdale for over 23 years and got tired of the traffic. We do miss it and are thinking of moving back though, we left about 5 years ago. Can't beleive how much it has changed, Rawhide is gone and so is the old Dial building all shopping now. That is horrible. So sorry to hear of this.

Wow, that road has always been treacherous, hasn't it. Such a tragedy for those bikers.

Hey, I am an old time native to that area too:-)

I lived in North Scottsdale, a mile south of Carefree, until about 6 years ago. I miss it terribly. Did you go to school out there? I went to Cocopah Elementary and Cherokee Elementary, then Chaparral High. What area were you in?

I miss it so much.....love that place! It has grown so much though, I hardly recognize it anymore.

Use to ride our Harley out that way all the time. In Michigan now and the drivers are just as bad as some in Arizona. still miss going to Carefree & Cave Creek though. Can't beleive someone would drive that irresponsible in a dump truck
