O/T: question for cat owners r.e. feeding raw food to cats

last weekend, I bot a bag of tilapia filets from Sam's Club. Last night, I defrosted two of them and left them in a bowl before putting them in the microwave. One of my cats jumped up on the counter and just about went nuts trying to get to them. Once I cooked the tilapia and gave her a piece, he wasn't interested. But when it was laying in the bowl raw, Cat Bastard was practically drooling. Do you know if it's safe to feed raw fish to cats?

PS..Gary My inside cat would have ate your fish too..lol

my inside cat goes nuts over canned salmon. I give it to her all the time. that along with canned tuna. she loves fish.
I had fish fillets out to thaw one time too and she was eyeing them up pretty good too..lol
she is also fond of butter of all things.
she was wild before I got her..but over the year and half she has become quite the character

i agree...I have a cat that is wild that hangs around the house.

here and he fishes in my neighbours fish pond outside. he has ate more then one gold fish..lol and been fine.
true though...they survived years with no processed food.
and they are all survivors..

Cat Bastard wanted to get at the fish so bad that he stepped rig

needless to say, I had to throw away a part of the salad, considering his trips to the litter box.

You think dogs will not be in Heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.

Normal cats eat raw!

They catch birds and fish, and won't bring them in to be cooked!

When I lived at home we had two cats, and they would wait, together with Winston, for my mum to return from the Supermarket. In the season she bought haring, and some more for the cats and dog!

The cats got their part on the table, Winston got his in his bowl. We always had to watch closely because the cats would chase Winston away from his part!

Don't worry about raw fish, just guard you part of it!

I sometimes feel bad for fish, but then I remember how many othe

so maybe they are just getting their just desserts.

My father lived on a river for a while...

and he would fish, and then throw the fish he caught to the cats that waited very patiently under the tree. They would just lay there and lounge in the shade and wait for dinner to be thrown over to them. They LOVED it! I always felt bad for the fish though. sad.gif

Thanks

don't know why I never before thought to give them raw fish. It was like catnip to him. Glad to know it's safe.

Yes, it's safe!

We fed our cats raw for a couple of years, then we switched to commercial food because we got lazy. We used to give them raw sardines, raw salmon and sometimes, raw chicken necks, among other things. They liked it and it was good for them.
