o/t Photography question (camera's)(long)

I am getting ready to upgrade from my D60 to a new Nikon. I mostly take pictures of my family, my bullies and places that I go on vacation. I don't like using flash if I can get by with out it, and prefer not to lug a tripod around. At this time a have 2 DX lenses and a Nikon 24-70 2.8. I really like shots of people and my dogs with blurry depth of field. I have looked at the Nikon D300s and the D700. I like the full frame advantage of the D700 and the low light capability, but, the camera is about $1000 more than the D300s. I would like to have a lens, like the Nikon 85mm 1.4 , for taking people shots and dog shots, but, with the D300s wouldn't the length change to around 125mm? Would that be to long for shooting dog and people portraits? Is there a better lens for blurry depth of field that would work on the D300s. Iwould rather not buy any more DX lenses, just in case, I do get a full frame camera.

Re: Thanks...

no idea really.

I have a D-80 and have used it for about 2.5 years.. I am thinking of selling it to buy something new sooner or later, but haven't really looked.

I have a couple friends that are crazy about the D-500.. they have 4 of them for doing weddings and portraits.. but nikon is pretty much done with it now.

I will check out that lens. I am curious about your thoughts on the two different cameras?

Re: Nikon 50mm F1.8

Nikon 50mm F1.8

very cheap (price) lens. about $120

it is one of Nikons sharpest lenses
F1.8 is pretty fast.

50mm x 1.6 = 80mm

I use it a lot.

for $120.00 there isnt much to lose. I think the 50mm 1.4 is like $1000 more.
