while I try and gooogle, thought I'd ask here too just in case I don't find anything.
Is it possible to break a rib trying to move very heavy furniture, or are there tendons or ligaments right behind the ribcage that could have torn?
We had to move the platform bed, solid wood not pressboard, and while trying to push it back, I felt sharp pain near the top of my right ribcage. It won't go away, feels a little burning and hurts when I try and take a deep breath.
ugh !! off to google.

Aleve
as long as it's aspirin free I can take it. I'm heading to Wal Mart soon so I'll get a small bottle.
Thanks Vicky - when it comes to medical stuff, I know you know it cuz that's what you do

I have Psoritic Arthritis too and I just got this for the first
Painful- does it happen to you often? I took an anti-inflamatory and it helped relieve the sharp pains.
i would take a NSAID vs Tylenol
as tylenol is not much help for swelling and inflammation.
Take Aleve or Motrin if your stomach can handle it

thanks all
Google didn't help much at all - could be tons of things but it's a waste of $ for a trip to the dr. It still hurts bad. Can't lay on my side or bend over. It hurts when I cough and take a deep breath. I'll just deal, take Tylenol and hopefully it will go away soon.
At least the new carpet looks awesome

it once made me cry.
Costochondritis
Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum.

muscle tear
Very possible to tear the muscles around your rib cage while doing something like that. I don't think there's much that can be done in either case except lots of Advil!
Sounds like an injury I once got while playing tennis
I went out one Friday night and played tennis for the first time in about three years. Later that night I woke up with a pain in my chest near the top of my ribs. The pain got worse on Saturday, and so bad on Sunday morning that I went to the ER. Turns out I had strained the tendons that connect the pectoral muscles to the rib cage. I think the condition was called Costochondritis, tho that is probably spelled incorrectly. The pain went away in about a week.

I bet it's not broke
My guess would be a pulled muscle or a strained ligament. Of course, I am not in the medical field but that is my guess. I'm sure it hurts bad. I would take some Ibuprofen, use a heat pad and see how you feel tomorrow.
I don't know but I hope you feel better soon...
I would guess maybe you could pull a muscle in there or something. I hope you feel better soon
