both the female and the mama were pregnant. Sad fact of life: They do kitty abortions in situations like this....better than adding to the unwanted animal problem, but sad. I am SO relieved...we just stopped hundreds of unwanted cats from being born. I was hoping they weren't old enough yet to have gone into heat, but I guess she did.
best thing for them
we do it with the reserve dogs, up to a certian point.

Trap neuter release program.
There was a stray cat that hung around, I could tell she was young and feral, I would set out food and she would just let me sit down the dish and then wait for me to leave. I noticed she was gaining weight and got a trap from the humane society and took her in until she delivered the kittens. I had to put her in the garage and would go out and sit and talk to her everyday, she never got close enough to touch and would hiss if you tried.
She had 4 kittens that we kept, had mom and babies spayed and then turned Momma back loose here. They clipped the tip of one ear so that if they ever pick her up they will know this cat has been spayed already. Not the best solution, but better then more feral unwanted cats.
It's a trap, neuter, release program....so for now their home
will be back living outside here. They can't even be pet, but I will try to work on it and maybe they will get used to people enough so that I can find homes for them.
They definitely go into heat at a pretty young age
I took in a stray,one-eyed kitten who was already pregnant at 4 1/2 months. She was a great cat, lived to 14.
Thank you so much for what you did for that mama and her two offspring. I hope they find wonderful forever homes. I wish I could have 20 cats. My vet has about 60. After Hurricane Katrina, he even bot the house next door to his, which had been severely flooded, restored it, and uses it as a home for all of his cats.
