Okay, I have a dumb question about batch editing

for example, let's take adjusting the exposure to brighten. When would you batch edit? Would it be mainly for a bunch of photos taken right about the same time and in the same location? Such as at a wedding, graduation, etc.? Because otherwise, it seems that the exposure of each photo would differ from the other photos too much, such as one would be too light, the other would be too dark.

I did just read that it is outstanding at organizing photos. Not too long ago, Adobe used to sell a very affordable stand-a-lone program for organizing photos. I loved that program, but then they started selling it only as part of Elements. I wonder how much better Lightroom is at organizing than that one was. If it's a lot better, that would be pretty impressive.

Gary, it's more for batch editing things like exposure and what

It's not a graphics program really. It's all about workflow and productivity: culling images, organizing, and doing large batch operations of large amounts of images. happy.gif

You can certainly brighten, but what it's good for is doing it to a 1,000 pics at a time. happy.gif LOL...

It's a great program, but I wouldn't compare it to any Corel or Elements or anything like that. happy.gif

Does it also let you brighten photos, add text, add graphics?

I just read that the crop tool is amazing, but that has me a bit confused since a cropping tool seems pretty simple. What could make one better than the other?

I use a program that I really love, PhotoImpact, but its maker, Ulead, was bot out by Corel and Corel has discontinued the program because it has a competing program. Thus, my program is now about three years out of date.

also...

it is like 500x faster than photoshop, as you open albums and can do everything without opening large files.

bulldogs ehh!

I have used it a lot.

It is amazing for colour correcting, spot removal and red eye fix ect. It is also pretty good for cropping and converting to B&W ect.

You can also add the same colour correcting values to multiple photos at a time and create super easy slide shows.

I still use photoshop for manipulating photos ect, as lightroom doesnt do that.. Lightroom is to get photos from the camera ready for printing, and does it super well.. and even better yet, it doesnt change the original file, it just keeps track of the changes in its own memory until you ask it to overwite the original or make a duplicate, be it at the end of the session or a year later..if ever..

Yes, if you shot something for 45 minutes under the same circums

A wedding ceremony, for instance. It's a god send to be able to just batch everything. It's great for two shooters to be able to merge camera data and sort everything as if it came from one camera. It makes rating, rejecting, and sorting through images easier. And yes, you can load "actions" like you have in Photoshop, but they're called "presets."

The free trial will be very overwhelming. It's a pretty powerful program, but you have to get over the hump of being totally confused by it at first. happy.gif LOL...
