Oliver is out of surgery....
Submitted by Alicia Jay Deuc... on April 21, 2010 - 12:40amHe is waking up and being monitored. We can go get him after 4 so in about an hour and a half, I can't wait to see him. Of course I cried again when they took him back but I warned them I would and had the kleenex ready! And poor Oliver, he had one more procedure done while he was under. I don't know if some of you remember but he has always been a "gagger". He just gags sometimes, he has never been a huge snorer and even after exercise he doesn't seem to breathe any louder than normal. We have had his trachea x-rayed previously to rule out any deformation of his trachea and that is all normal. So I also had our vet take a look at his palate while he was under. Sure enough he also needed a palate trim. Poor baby Oliver. I can only imagine that is a very painful thing so we stopped and got some soft food on our way home from running errands. He will be a pampered boy for the next few weeks!

And Sue, we went to Tacos el Norte for lunch!!!!! I ordered such a big lunch I have left overs for dinner too...YUM!

He'll do fine. Soft food for a few days. Palette surgery is not a big thing aslong as they used laser.
save money. Soften his kibble with water..
Just add a little hot water to his kibble about 15 minutes before mealtime. Much cheaper than buying canned food.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

I'm glad that Oliver is doing well!
Gus had his palate trimmed at the same time as his neuter. He did really well with his recovery as I'm sure Oliver will. Gus really enjoyed some scrambled eggs (hint, hint) during his recuperation.

great news !!
I knew he'd do great. His throat will be sore for a little while but he'll be good as new real soon. Glad all went well.
Mmmm, if we didn't jsut go there for dinner last week, I'd be really jealous. We should meet there for dinner one night in the next few weeks.

So glad to hear he's up and about. If Stella is any indication, he will LOVE soft food!
