Ok yall, I need help with this before I SCREAM!!

Boogers wrinkles are just out of control. Again. This is driving me NUTS! They cleared up so nicely and were all so pretty and white when I switched him over to NB Duck and Potato. Then they got cruddy about the time they changed the formula and I put him on the Sweet Potato and Fish. They were ok at best for a little while, then they got even cruddier and now he is almost through their first bag of the venison. I clean them daily. I clean with either a hot a washcloth or a Malaseb wipe. Within hours we are back to this again. Under his rope looks the same way. Does this look like he has a yeast or bacteria infection again? His ears look fine at the moment but Im just at my wits end. Do I switch foods altogether? Is that even the problem? He gets nothing but filtered water and his food. No table scraps or anything extra.

He has gotten to the point that he wont even come to me when I call him anymore. I have to chase him down and catch him. He runs from me when I call him. :O(

Very possible it is the potato

in the NB food. If you look potatoe is now the first ingredient. My sister has had horrible trouble keeping Cleo white and she just switched her off the NB. The food store said the potatoe is the problem. I think she decided to try Innova. Will see how it goes.

to my knowledge it can be used for both

yeast or bacteria its the drug of choice that my vet will prescribe.

Panalog/Animax you need a script

Not sure if you have a vet that works w/you and you can just call and ask for the script or they will want to see him in order to dispense the ointment sad.gif for me luckily I can just call and they will dispense it w/o my bringing the dog in. I have really gotten in the habit that when I bring one of them in and I'm running low or anything that is a prescription I ask for it so I have it on hand all the time.
I have 4 bulldogs and they all eat different foods for three of them the meat is lamb. My one female who is 9 is on prescription food because 5 years ago she was diagnosed w/struvite and this is all she eats and I also bake her treats w/the canned prescription food.
With my other three basically are all on a combination of California natural lamb/rice dry, lamb/rice canned which is not a problem w/rice being a grain. But, I do have one that only eats canned Lamb Formula Natures Variety Instinct (no grain)and they all have different supplements that I add so let's just say "its complicated" but, I don't mind:)

question

if the issue is yeast wouldn't antibiotics make it worse?
Just curious

Thank you!

I will start him on the Cephalexin. I have some of that. The animax/panalog I will have to get. Can I order it online anywhere? What do you feed yours, by the way? I am certainly willing to change food if it helps.

some ideas

His creases and wrinkles seem fairly advanced so IMO the problem needs to be treated not only topically but from within. Cephalexin would be a start or Tylan powder to clear it up. Topically you can continue using malasab or hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball then dry the folds with a another cotton ball then apply panalog or animax and dust w/gold bond powder being very careful to not get any in his eyes I use a makeup brush to apply the gold bond powder.
As far as his food he may not tolerate the meat protein my bulldogs can only eat lamb anything else and they are a mess. Mine also cannot tolerate potato so you will just have to do the research and figure out what's a better choice for him.
Then many times they can have major flare ups because of the time of the year and what's in the environment and what's starting to bloom.
It's not easy it just takes allot of patience to find what works best for him.
I hope this may help in some way good luck he is a cute guy and my favorite color I'm very partial to (red/whites)~debi

no beets... plus its a grain-free food

I just have no idea what is causing this!

Wo go through this exact thing

with Stella. I have figured out it happens four times a year and lasts 3-4 weeks at a time. it is happening with her right now and it will happen again around june and again in august and then again in oct. we never switched her food because totw is the only thing she has solid poop on. We use angel eyes on her and it clears everything up. she gets yeasty in her tail as well and this clears her up. sounds weird but it is what works for her.

Beet Pulp?

Is there beet pulp in your food? Rocco's folds cleared up nicely once we transitioned him off a kibble that had it in the ingredients.

We feed California Natural, for the record.

try a different brand of food...

and a different source of protein you have not tried before, like lamb. Write down how he does on each food you try, so you will remember what not to repeat.

I agree about the cephalexin. 7 to 10 days on it could help clear things up. When Roxy gets black under her nose rope I use shampoo (Chlorhexiderm) on a sloppy wet wash cloth to clean it and then I pat dry and powder with Gold Bond Baby Powder. She doesn't get tear stains.
