NOT sure what to do here...TOWN needs a bulldog mascott tomorrow night....and.....

Gus is it.
I have not made up my mind about this.

the hockey team here is a series..and they are called the Kincardine Bulldogs. they had a masscott that passed over the bridge..and now they want one for this playoff series.
there will be 1200 people there at the game.
both of my sons will take Gus there..

I might be ok if he can sit behind the players bench or in the penalty box..lol

just not sure what expect if he goes
would you let your bulldog go to something like this??

he is great with people and very friendly. being deaf he would not be bothered by all the sounds of the arena either.

wander about safety issues...and so on.
never done anything like this before..

MY SON works with a couple of the bulldog hockey players. it is a fun Junior C league...but Gus might just enjoy all the hype..

a portable kennel is a great idea...

thanks for the tip.
that might be good to take along
he will likely need a sweater in the ice rink..I would guess. it is pretty cool in there ..not like the big NHL rinks but with all those people..it might be warmer ..not sure

will get them to take along a crate for Gus in case.
still waiting on the management this morning to decide for sure

Gus is into the tub here shortly..gotta look beautiful for his debute..lol

my sons are great with Gus...they can take him out of the areana

if he needs a cooling down period. we are below celcius here outside and he would cool down fast out there.
I wander about all the excitement too.
I told the boys to NOT let a soul take Gus for any reason and I know they would not do that anyhow..they are great with Gus.

in the end I could end up going too..lol can see that might happen.

is it possible

to have a portable crate set up in a cool place should he need a break to cool off? perhaps there is an extra dressing room, or even in the car while it is cool out.. keep lots of ice water on hand, and maybe a squirtable lemon juice.. and of course cookies.

sounds like a blast.

bulldogs ehh!

Its all a matter of understanding what to do if he gets

too excited or overheated...that he needs to be taken to a quiet cool spot for however long it takes to recover his normal breathing. Your boys cannot hand him off to any 3rd party...they have to be personally responsible for him...and he should be okay. happy.gif

Gus would be an adorable mascot!

He is such a handsome boy!

LOTS and LOTS Of pics...

who knows maybe he will even get a jersey..lol from the bulldogs to wear..
Gus is a good sport and I am feeling a bit better about all this..
gotta clear the management tomorrow to make sure that all is ok and where he can sit..
I BET he sleeps the whole night..LOL.

just a fun bunch of guys..
the bulldog games brings in good money to the town too

Gus is very friendly that makes me think he might just really love all the attention and yea might be able to educate some people on bulldogs and deaf dogs in general.
true ...good point

he will have a blast

prob sleep through the whole thing Pat, get your sons top take lots of pics,

Definitely!

take him for sure!
How fun for him, and a great opportunity to educate about the breed, and deaf dogs..

do it!

Tiffany and Stella

LOL celebrity...he would be that...might be kinda cute..

Gus is a very easy going bulldog too.
MY sons would stay right with him
the paper would have a hay day with that type of story for sure..lol
this is a small town and hockey is a big thing here..
he would get tons and tons of attention.

I know that Bella could not go ..she is a bit of a nervous bulldog and can not see her enjoying the game and all the fuss and muss and NOISE..she hates loud noises. the games are really really loud..and Gus being deaf will not hear any of that..so he is a good choice really to go.

unless they can find another bulldog. MY son suggested Gus to the guys at work ...that play on the team. Gus looks like their old mascott too. he was a white bulldog like Gus and there shirts have white bulldogs on them as well.

I think it's a great opportunity....

I think as long as your sons are able to be with him all the time, there should not be problems. What a great chance to have a celebrity in your family..LOL

Forgot to add Gus would likely go to the end of the season...if

they are ahead in the series right now and last night the ended in the 3rd overtime.. and that is a long time for a bulldog to be sitting somewhere..if the games goes that late.

will give it some thought. guess they could take him and if he acts up or does not like sitting still they could take him home.

I will not be going to this game myself..
bet he would make the local newspaper for sure..
