New Intro!
Submitted by Maggie and Sadi... on April 20, 2010 - 11:38pmHello everyone! I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and give some background information on us. My name is Carrie. My husband and I are impatiently waiting on March 11th, the day we pick up our new puppy, Maggie. My husband previously had an English Bulldog, but he let his ex-wife take her when they divorced - he had nowhere to keep her. Weve been married a little over a year, but over the last 5 years, Ive often heard him say One of these days Im gonna have another bulldog. Well, I finally cracked in January and decided that for his birthday in February, I would surprise him and fulfill that wish. I did a lot of looking and reading LOTS of reading and searches here over the last couple months. The more I read, the more fascinated Ive become with English Bulldogs!
I am so bad about keeping secrets from my hubby usually I end up giving him his Christmas presents early! But, I decided when I put the deposit down in January, that this time I was going to keep it a secret no matter what! It about killed meI was ready to burst! But, I had to keep my mouth shut for a few weeks!
Hubby and I made plans to attend the Bud Shootout in Daytona, and on the way home stopped in Jacksonville under the pretense that one of the friends that had gone with us needed to stop at his aunts house to pick something up for his mom. Of course, once we got inside, I revealed the true reason we were at this persons house for hubbys birthday present. Hubby said later he was wondering why I was introducing this womans own nephew to her. LOL
Anyway, he chose Maggie and now hes had to go through all the anticipation of waiting to bring her home! We also have a chocolate lab, Bogey, who is nothing but a 70 lb big ball of mush! Hes about 5 years old, but still acts like a big babyIm sure he will be thrilled to have someone else to play with! I'm going to try to post pictures of maggie...hopefully they aren't too big!

Small world!
We chose Dr. Terhune @ N. FL. Animal Hospital - she has a bully of her own, which influenced our decision. Unfortunately she's not going to be there next week, so we were going with a different doctor from there for Maggie's first visit, then will probably have see Dr. Terhune after that. I work downtown, so this place was close too. Any thoughts?

your right next door to us! I have been with NorthHampton Animal Clinic (in Kerry Forrest PKWY) shopping center, next to Red Elephant restaurant(NE) in Tallahassee for 9 yrs.I love Dr. Randall! He had a bully, Madison for yrs (RIP)..He is who got my obsession with bulldogs going..Let me know who your going with!

We live in Crawfordville, but I work in Tallahassee! That's awesome! Can I ask what vet you use? I have one picked out and just made an appt today for next week, but just wondering if you have one you prefer? We take Bogey, our lab, to one in Crawfordville, but I've chosen one in Tallahassee for Maggie - wanted someone who was familiar with English Bulldogs. I set up an appt this morning for next week, but you can't be too sure...so I'd love to know who you use!

What a warm welcome! I feel like I already know a bit about some of you with as much as I've read over the last couple months! My heart goes out to those who have lost their bullies - so sad. I'm sure I'll be posting and reading much more! And I will definitely post more pics once we get her home!

I know they live near a golf course - maybe they use whatever the golf course does? Looks like it's kept pretty short, so they could use it to practice tee-ing? I dunno! LOL

Ok
They sent me a whole folder of info (I'd requested it a couple weeks ago). It may actually have that info with it, I will have to double check and if not, I will definitely ask that. If you have anymore tips, I'm all ears!
I don't know about them..sorry
but if she has her own bully, that always helps with the decision:P My vet will match online prices of meds for me, which helps alot..ask who do they use for 24 hr emergencies..
