Hi! My husband and I are expecting our first bulldog baby, and I have been devouring all the information I can get my hands on in preparation! We are so excited! We have been married a little over 2 years and have no children (and no plans for any in the near future), but have wanted a bulldog for quite some time. We have both always had dogs - I had pekingese and a lab/chow mix, he had a lab/dalmatian mix - but we needed to compromise on what we would get as our first dog once we were married. I wanted something smaller and cuddly with a cute personality, and he wanted something "sturdy" and playful. We also knew that we'd need to get a dog that would be happy inside, since we'll likely be living in apartments over the next few years. He suggested the English Bulldog, since its the Marine Corps mascot, and as we researched them, we came to realize they were the perfect mix of everything we wanted! So, as a surprise for my husbands commissioning into the Marine Corps, I put aside money for what seemed like FOREVER and researched breeders in our area (currently MS - soon to be VA), and FINALLY we are on our way to getting our bulldog! I have spent hours on this board the last few days looking at all your pictures and reading your posts, and you sound like a wonderful group of people. I hope to be able to share stories and pictures very soon!

Welcome!
This is a great place for bulldog people. If you ever have any questions, no matter how trivial you thing they may be, ask away. We know that when it comes to our bulldogs, nothing is trivial. You will probably have a couple of panic episodes when the dog does something strange, but we all have. When I first got my bulldog Maybull (and this was NOT my first bullie) we felt some lumps on her and rushed off the the vet. it turned out to be mosquito bites and nothing to worry about. ALL bulldog people do this. We're a funny lot.
Woof!
Welcome and congrats!
you both picked the perfect dog (IMO)

Re: New here and loving all your bully babies!
Nice people on this board. I've only been here a few months and you wouldn't believe how much I've learned... pretty sure I was "bulldog ignorant" before finding this board!

Your story sounds much like my hubby and I, we are military couple, no kids, ect..and we wanted a dog. My hubby did research and we decided a bullie was perfect for us. We've had our Dozer almost 2 years now and he's the light of our lives. Feel free to ask questions, post pics,ect...the more the merrier on BDW.
Re: From one newbie to another...
Thank you!! And you, too! I look forward to seeing you and your sweet baby girl around here!
Welcome to BDW. There are great folks here! nm
And always .....Winston
Thank you!
Thanks for the kind welcomes! I know lots of you here have puppies that are related, so I hope it isn't against the forum rules to post about my puppy's parents! The sire will be Silverstreak Catcher and dam will be Hale/Halo (I'm not sure if I am reading it correctly) or Tootsie. (I believe there are two litters out of Catcher at this time, but I'm not sure which is has a boy!) We are wanting a boy, and there are supposedly 3 in one litter, so hopefully it won't be a problem!
Welcome to the board
when you get your new puppy, post lots and lots of photos of him or her! If you're not familiar with how to post new photos, many regulars here open an account with either Flickr.com or Photobucket.com and then copy and paste here the photos' URLs. Both services give you the option of a free account or a paid account. The latter doesn't put a limit on how many photos you can post.
