looking for a new vet...need suggestions for questions

to ask. We don't have a "bully" vet within 5 hours of us. So I am looking for a vet that can do the routine stuff...vaccines, minor tummy issues, etc. Luckily we have not had to deal with anything to serious. But the vet that I currently use is good, but his office is 1 hr east of us and now with us having our new bully "Bella" with our son & his girlfriend that live 1 1/2hr west of us. We need to find a vet closer to them.
I am not sure what questions to ask...we always ask if they have current bulldogs clients and everyone comment is "yes, of course". Well they might have like 1 per year!!!
So some helpful hints to screen for the best would be helpful...
Thanks
Kim

Kim-the easiest answer is to move to the Cities! :0)

I'm sure if you asked Dr Jim who he would recommend he'd be able to give you some good suggestions.  I never realized how much I take it for granted that I'm close to both the Club & the Vet...and we're still 30 min from the Vet!  :0)

Ask if they do in-house blood testing or if they send it out...

and if they send it out, how quickly do you get the info back? Ask what their schedule recommendation is for vaccinations...if they say they give the 3-yr Rabies and other shots but still recommend an annual visit that is ok, just want to know that they don't try to get everyone to 'give everything'. Ask if they keep snake-bite medications in the office (presuming you live in a rural area) and ask if they have any weekend office hours?

our nearest bully group and rescue are 5hrs away..

we are like living at the end of the earth when it comes to bully stuff...UGH!!!
I do have a call into our bully vet for MN to see who he might recommend..

from their website it looks like they use...

Isoflurane or Sevoflurane...these are both ok to use right?

a good test question might be to ask what kind of

anesthesia they use on bullies.

All my bulldoggers are there and I miss them:( I am waiting for Dr. Winsor to call me back, but he is very busy!!!
Hope everything is going well for you..I have been checking in on the bully beat!! vivi is looking great!!
