"Portrait of an American family . . . weeping father worried that his boy will never play in the NFL, hoping that his own birthday is not also today . . . boy wandering the house, confused, lighter in the step, searching for his lost marbles . . . mommy dearest, denutter-in-chief, holding a paring knife in one hand and a Cuisinart in the other, and wielding a wicked smile as she slowly stalks her way to daddy's favorite chair . . . (cue the music and start rolling the credits)."

We're flying out east on Wed night and picking up a dog on Thursday. Then the LOOOONG trip back to Seattle in a rental car. Sound like fun?

Seeing Chicago and stopping for a pizza is going to be the highlight of my trip, I'm sure!

Sorry we'll miss you! I wish we had more time...there are several places I'd like to stop along the way, but I have to get back to work on Monday.
