this bothers me...
Gus eats his dogfood very slowly and one piece at a time actually. but he never chews it. he had his teeth checked and they are white no tartar even..
Bella on the other hand..eats one piece at a time too..but chews and chews each piece
can not see that being healthy to not chew their food.
My pugs are the same way
2 of them are chewers no problem
but the little female never chews a piece of dogfood ever..
Dogs don't masticate their food
they don't have any enzymes in their mouths to start the digestive process like herbivores or omnivores do, so their jaws are designed to bite, tear, crunch a bit and swallow. There is no need for them to pulverize their food in their jaw first by chewing it.
Cathy
when she first came home
you could wait forever for Bella to finish Kim..
one piece at a time..
she moves one piece out of the bowl each time
she has done this since day one..
slow slow eater..
hmmm interesting..
a stasher..lol
yea does sound like squirrel behaviour
Bella eats one piece at a time...very slow eater
Gus has not gotten sicke to see if the whole pieces of dogfood come out..but bet they would..
I have the opposite problem...Tuffy inhales a cup of kibble in l
I'm going to order a slow feeder dish.
i dont think any of mine chew
they just suck food out of the dish and in to the stomach.
I soak it a bit in hotwater so that it is sticky and they will chew, but they dont.

Bubba sounds like a squirrel...
Silly boy!
Hi Pat! long time no see!!
Bubba never chews his food, infact he smuggles pieces in his cheeks and I find kiblles on the floor alot! If he vomits, its whole kibble, he has always been that way! crazy boy
no inhalers..lol at least..
they both eat very slow
just one is a chewer and one not
I am on mushy food and I miss the chewing..lol. think all dogs would have the urge to chew
hey there
bruno was starved as a puppy when we got him, he used to inhale his food and choke on it. I soak his food all night now. probly not good for his teeth, but I figure its better than having him choke. doesnt sound like your bullie is inhaling it though. so not sure about what to tell you. hope your feeling better.
