Thankfully it was unplugged and it looks like he did not eat any pieces. However, it is going to cost more than $80 to get a new one. I had the exact same thing happen but, I had bought this Bissel upright carpet cleaner and didn't really like it the first time I used it...not much suction power.

I had it all washed and ready to go back...waiting by the door. I put the box for it on top of the table...when I came in after being out for ~ 15 min. one of the gang had chewed the cord right at the base where it enters the machine...needless to say, it is now one of my feeble cleaning tools! what these guys won't dream up! I thanked them for welcoming their new friend in with such exuberance!
