I have an American Bulldog and he is very loyal and loving and I might add, very attached to me. Follows me everywhere I go. I have an important question though and if someone can help me with the answer I would apprediate it so much.

Is there anyway that I can be assured or be confident in knowing that my dog will protect me if the situation should ever Adminse. Do they any sort of natural instinct to protect their "human?"

He is so mellow and loving that it makes me wonder. I don't want him to be mean or vicious but I want him to again, protect me if I should ever need it. I live in a not so friendly neighborhood and I walk to work at night where there are no street lights. I take him with me.
