I found out on Sunday my neighbor 3 houses down has a bulldog puppy-prob about 6 months or so! So I decided to write them this letter-tell me am I nuts-I have not sent it yet because I want some feedback.
Would u think your neighbor is crazy if you got this letter-or would you be happy?!?!?!
Hi there,
I met your son and Marley on Sunday! What a great surprise to have another bully just a few houses away! I used to teach Alex gymnastics with Julie and live at 236 Arlington. I also have a bulldog named Winston-he is 18 months old.
So I am going to give you guys a bunch of information and if ya like it great if not toss it aside! I thought I knew a lot before I got Winston and soon found I knew nothing. So I am taking the chance that you might like some more information sources.
I dont know if you know but bulldogs are somewhat unique and a great bulldog specialist is Dr. Shaw-he is in Woodstock with is about an hour and a half away-but if you dog every needs any kind of surgery or if local vets are really confused it is worth the drive. Bulldogs are very sensitive to anesthesia and can die quite easily. Winston unfortunately needed knee surgery at a year old and Dr. Shaw did it and was just wonderful-the waiting room is usually full of bullies! Now I take him there to get his shots because it is only once a year. But a lot of people go to a local vet for shots and go to him if a problem Adminses. He is so well known people travel from Wisconsin, Iowa and Southern IL to see him.

Also, there is a great bulldog webpage that has all sorts of wonderful information-and on that webpage is a discussion board. The people there are wonderful and a lot of time can help you out. There are people who this is there first bulldog to people that have been raising bulldogs for 30+ years. Lots of people just share funny stories and pictures of there dogs also.

Then there is a bullyfest in April-just a lot of people getting together with their dogs for the afternoon. There was a small one in October and it was really a lot of fun. I hope you will think about coming!
Sincerely,

Noon til ????
Old School Forest Preserve, Libertyville IL (same place as the Oct picnic)
Coves are on a first come, first serve basis, so we will not know which cove until that day. We will get there early and pick a good cove with shade and then we will post signs at the entrance and along the road inside giving you the cove location.
We are going to make this a potluck lunch as follows. This way we get a bit of everything:
Last name beginning with A - H sides and chips
Last name beginning with I Q main dishes
Last name beginning with R Z fruit and desserts
In honor of Dozer and Angels first birthday, Holly is getting 2 dog edible cakes and one people cake, although Im sure the bullies may want a taste of the good stuff too Since everyone has their own taste in drinks, its easier to each bring our own. There will be plates, napkins, silverware, charcoal and lighter fluid.
There are out-of-towners coming and we are checking into some local area hotels. Some of us local people are planning to stay over Saturday night as well. If you are interested in staying over let either David or myself know.
We will post again with that info as well as directions to the preserve.
We would like to get a head count on how many will be attending so we can all plan accordingly. You can either email David at brwnblldg@msn.com or me at bulldogz@attbi.com.
This will be re-posted every few weeks in case anyone misses it.
I wish you were my neighbor !!!! n/m

Nice!
Hi Kellie- Our neighbor across the street has a 2 yr old bulldog. When we got Dante she sent the cutest note on that crane bulldog stationary and addressed it to dante and wrote from her dog's perspective. I didn't think she was nuts at all and was happy to get it and to have an across the street info source!! Go ahead and send it. We are all nuts about our bullies and I am sure your neighbor is too! -AnnR
I think it is very nice of you
but how comes you don't just go talk to them? I have a neighbor 2 houses over from me who also has a bulldog. I have lived in this neighborhood for 5 yrs and never once I have talked to him until this past December which was 2 mths after I got Daisy. I was driving down the street and he was taking Butch (his bully out to potty) so I decided to look like an insane bully momma and pulled over and chatted with him. We compared notes on our bullies and of course I got lots of bully kisses from Butch.

I think you just made a great friend
If you're crazy, the world needs more crazies like you. Your letter is wonderful. I hope they join us on the board.
BTW, if a UFO happens to hover over your house one weekend and zaps your husband up into the mother ship to take to a zoo on Saturn where he will be held for a hundred years to participate in their inter-galactic breeding program, will you marry me?? You did say you used to be a gymnast, right??
Re: I am a little bit crazy I think...
That is so nice. We have a neighbor who has this old beautiful bullie and the owner is a mute! We try to talk and be friendly but he is really not social at all. So sad. The park is right across the street from his home and we have been taking our lil one there since day one. He never comes out or has any interest in us at all. Your so nice!!!!! FUnny how being nice would be considered CRAZY these days!!!!
Kelly you go girl!!!
If I had a bullie and had a neighbor with one..I'd do the same thing...and in reverse I'd love to hear from another bullie family close by...it people who reach out that makes the world smile...
no matter how they respond,or don't you made the gester...and how do you know if you don't try?kudos...ce
That's wonderful!
If I would not have found out about bulldogsworld, or knew a good vet, I would love to get a letter like that. However, I sure hope they appreciate it, because it seems that most people don't want any help, even when they need it
carly
I think it is very nice.
and friendly. When the pup gets older, they could play together.
I think it is ghreat and very nice about you.
You are being a good neighbor. I would appreciate it if someone did that for me.
I don't think so
I do that kind of stuff all the time. I think it is called being nice!!! I am glad you put in about the fest...the more bullies the better! You are a very nice person Kelly, I wish I had more neighbors like you
David, Holly, Dozer and Angel
A swimmer will do
just kidding. About a year ago, a bunch of us guys got together to drink beer and act like male pigs one night. One guy started channel surfing and stopped on Howard Stern, who had "Erica the gymnast" on that night. She did a standard gymnast's move that was new to all of us. Ever since that show, all my friends (and I) keep saying we want to marry a gymnast. Erica was so popular with viewers that the plastic surgeon who does Howard's guests put her on his web site. Erica has sort of become a legend to beer swilling male pigs.
Letter sound good
Kelly I don't think you sound crazy at all. I wish when I got my bullies there was someone like you when I had questions or problems... I think it is a very good idea. Send it
I think that is a great idea.
HOw lucky is your neighbor. It is not often these days that people are so friendly. You are a good person and should share that quality with your neighbor.
Thanks everyone =)

Because I work odd hours and am generally not around when they a
I am a single 25 year old they are a married couple with 2 kids. I work 2-9. I feel more comfortable dropping off a letter than going and knocking on their door. I talked to there son who is prob about 9 on Sunday. I did have there 3 year old in my gymnastics class 2 years ago-so she is now 5. I remember from a when I had Alex in class that they are super busy also. If I happen to see them walking the dog I would stop and chit chat but I do not see them outside often-it is also winter in Chicago which means cold so no one is really just outside much. I know Winston and I really dont go for walks unless it is over 30 degrees otherwise we just go out to go potty.
So that is why in a nutshell.
Sorry to disappoint ya Gary
I was never a gymnast-I was a swimmer and water polo player. I just happened to fall into a gymnastics teaching postion a few years ago when I quit a full time job to go back to school. The job was great for many reasons-also because I primarily taught with my best friend and her family( who ran the gym).
Great Idea. One minor change.
Just one change in the whole thing:
(So I am going to give you guys) -- change these few words to say -- I thought I'd pass along some helpful and fun information and if ya like it great if not toss it aside! ....
What do you think?
