My very first dog that was ALL MINE was a Cocker. I got her for Christmas when I was 9 and had her until after my daughter turned 2. She was 13 when I had to put her down. I miss her still.....and I am a Grandma now! It's been years, but she is still in my heart.

About 16 years ago I met a guy who I started dating. Long story made short, I got engaged and shortly before we got married I had to call of the wedding due to matters I really don't want to talk about.
I was beyond consolable and sank into a deep depression. My parents did not know what to do with me, how to get me help, or what they could do to get me back to my life. They thought I was going to be lost forever.
My Mom then recommended a dog. And here comes Floyd-the-Dog. My Doobiesdoo-the-dog-a-loo! Floyd gave me a reason to get up everyday. I had to feed my boy, I had to walk my boy, take my boy to the vet. When he was a little puppy I would hold him and let him sleep in my arms. My life/world centered around this 5 lbs furball. When I came home from work, he was so happy to see me EVERY DAY and he would bring his toys, one by one, to my feet and drop them there. I smiled for the first time in a long, long time because of him.
Shortly after Floyd and I were united, I was coming out of my depression and then it was done, I was saved. My Mom once said to me "this dog is one of those dogs that would save a child from harm, like if a child fell in the water, he would jump in a rescue them". What she did not think of was that child was hers.....me!
I loved Floyd more than anything and when he passed away, at the age 14, I was hysterical. My little buddy was gone.....but what a life we had together. lol.....I think back to my life with him and I laugh and smile and look up to heaven and tell him that I still love him as much as day 1 and that I miss him sooo much.
That is my story........not one of those "saved from a burning building/house" type of stories......but I will forever be grateful and cannot wait until I can see my boy again. Until then, I know my Mom is taking very good care of him in heaven!

I had just left a dangerous marriage..and was faced with life threatening surgery in 2 weeks..the reason I had to leave. I promised each of my sons a special gift and the one son wanted a bulldog of all things.. so did the research..met some breeders...and found Bella. she came from a show breeder as a pet quality bulldog..and she came home the day I got of surgery and was released with a 100 plus staples in my chest. not a day goes by that I do not think that Bella really helped me to recover. the only thing it is really sore to laugh at a bulldog puppy..lol with the staples in there..but she was a doll and lifesaver.
thanks for sharing your story Dawn
dogs are like angles and I am sure Conner and Raver are looking out for you.. do you have a pic of Conner?
I didn't have kids and no reason to go on. Quit my job and lived in my bathrobe. Until Conner was born. That puppy gave me life. And safety and companionship. God sent me a furry angel.
Everyone was worried about me when Conner died, but I got his son Raven a few weeks later.
I truly believe God gave us dogs to be what He would be if he could be here on earth with us to touch and hold. I would look into Raven's eyes and see God looking back at me with such love.
Thank you for sharing your story with Floyd. Bless their sweet hearts.

I don't usually take to the idea of a soulmate, but I might have to reconsider after reading this.

You have a great story too! I'll post pics of Conner soon for you. Glad that you survived and your surgery was a success? How long ago was that?
