HELP...my dog threw up THIS....pic (kinda gross)

Is this worms? or am I going crazy?

We didn't see which dog did it and I have 2 of my own and a foster that is suposed to be up-to-date with his shots? My brother is going to take it to the vets tomorrow, because I can't go, but was really curious as to what it might be? If I need to take the dogs to the vet I will, but I have school on Saturday mornings and the vet is 1.5 hours away. I can't think of anything in my house or yard that it could be. They are kind of soft with worm like points at the end. If it is worms what do I do???

Yes, it's a worm

It's a ascaris. We call them Spulwurm. Don't know what medicine you have we use Banminth from Pfizer.
They are ugly, aren't they?
Oh, and a good morning to all!!
Suse & Lulu

awww good luck with everything...

I was hoping it wasnt worms, but dont feel bad for not knowing sooner...how were u to know. Hey even humans walk around with worms and have no idea...mmmmm sushi anyone?? Ur a better person than i am....i cant even stand looking at a magot without getting nausous. Good luck again

thanks for the tip... I will try and get some in the morning bef

they are all getting dewormed just in case anyways.

So it's 99% worms...in speaking with the rescue coordinator she

for sure he has worms and has had them for awhile... I feel terrible for not noticing, but I have such a big yard where they can do their business and with all the snow I never took a good look for worms... even when I picked it up I didn't notice anything, but she was confident without even seeing the picture that it was worms. Because he had parvo they didn't do the booster and therefore she is sure it's worms...

SO.... I'm skipping school to take all three of them to MY vet which is an hour and half away (i'm hoping they can get me in), but the other are due in a couple of weeks for thier annual visit so we are going to go early and get everyone up-to-date and healthy...then I have to rush back for a wedding shower (i'm the bridemaid) at 2pm.

I'm so new to all this stuff...you'd think I'd know something was wrong! I feel so bad.

Make sure you bring stool samples of all three of the dogs

to the Vet. Better safe than sorry.

not in the great white north!

I thought round worms too...

Frankie had this when she was a puppy...but she poo-ed it out.
I don't remember them being very big or that many though.
Are they soft? I would say of they are not stiff and solid looking, it's not a root.

I would say it is most likely the foster puppy. It shouldn't be

a big deal to treat though. My Bully had them but it was before they matured so I never had to see what you saw. I feel for you, I couldn't deal with that. Good luck!

I think that's it!!!

Oh NO! My fear has come true... except I don't know which one it is... i'm guessing the foster puppy.

Round Worms

If I were a betting man, I'd bet those are Round Worms, even though I've never seen them thrown up before, only in poop. It should't be anything a good dose of Ivomec will not cure. I would definitely worm all my dogs or at the very least have them checked for worms. They may also have Tape Worms which are much harder to get rid of, since they are transmitted by fleas. Rond Worms can be picked up from the soil in your yard.

Was just looking at the same thing,I stand corrected.Symptoms sa

They look just like roundworms. See if the link I posted works

so you could see the picture I saw. Otherwise go into yahoo, search images and type in roundworms or go to www.the petcenter.com and look up worms.

Do you have anything wicker in the house?

Kind of looks like pieces of a wicker basket?

I don't know - they look like worms to me.

Whatever they are - yuck! At least if they are worms, they're usually really easy to treat. Let us know. . .

earth worms? top ramen? yikes. Hope they're nothing.

let us know.

I'm never eating chinease noodles again in my life...

I dont know much about worms but i thought they are found in the intestines where they attach to the intestine wall. Since we are being gross, hows the poop look, anything in there?

LynnandWalter's picture

I had my hubby look, the first thing he said was.......

"they look like dandylion stems" lol. I said well since we are in March I don`t think so. so do you have dandy lions there??

when I took the photo they were kind of dried up...

but my mom figured they were still kind of stiff, but to touch were squishy?? I don't - the more I look, I don't think they are roots, but I know nothing about plants either?? they were playing in the yard when it happened so it could easily have been something in the yard...but then we were thinking if they were digging up roots, they would be broken and these have distinct pointy ends on them??? I guess we'll find out at the vets tomorrow (hopefully).

LynnandWalter's picture

ya know, the more I look at it, the more it looks like some kind

worms would be flat to the paper towel. now if they were dried and hard then I`d say worms, so I`m gonna stick with roots. PLEASE let us know what the vets come up with.

they do look like noodles, but for sure are not...

super gross!

No not moving...

I was thinking roots too, but there are no sprouts and both ends are the same...like a worm... my mom did he poop pick up today and nothing in it that she noticed?

Sue-Bear's picture

ewwww yuck

I have never seen worms so I cant help but they are gross. Are they moving? Kinda like a cross between those chinese noodle things and plant roots.

I thought if a dog had worms they pooped them out?

Hope you find out what they are.
