Help, respiratory issues....went to vet

Hooch has a lot of stridor...so noisy and his chest is moving a lot. Vet said lungs sound clear, it's all upper airway. He has clavamox to take. Since we got home he is trying to sleep, still very noisy and often kind of licks of his lips, as if trying to clear something maybe. Not sure if we try the lemon juice trick for this. We have a small humidifier near him. He did not have a temp. His gums are pink. He ate. But the sound is so scary.

Michele, sending prayers for the Hoochster...

I tried the lemon juice with Oscar one time when he was hacking/breathing heavy and all it did was totally irritate his already sore throat. Hope he starts feeling better when the meds kick in.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about little Hoochie...did yo

try to give him a piece of orange? My dogs have issues with lemon, but orange is sometimes helpful and will clean palate in a similar way as lemon. I also get little lemon or orange sorbets, they are better than lemon juice and they seem to like it.
Good luck and keep us posted, I worry about your boy... seem like you and I are constantly battling something sad.gif
well...at least our babies are in the best hands happy.gif

just remembered something else ...

the vet told me to keep her off the laminate flooring. anything that is not carpeted...or cushioned.
I just kept her on the couch...and let her sleep there.
in her crate I put a pillow for her too..
not sure the reason..guess because the floor is cold..

Michele, could it be something wrong with his trachea?

It sounds as if he can't take in enough air. Sending prayers.

keep him in a small space and use the vapourizer..

they are awesome
HOOCH will be much better
I used one for my pug that had the same thing and it did wanders..
you will need to confine Hooch to smaller room and then use it there..works good.

Zeena had phenomonia sp?? and wow she was soo sick here.. was glad that I had the vapourizer.
do you have a cool mist type??

beat wishes to Hooch

I do keep checking his gums... guess I will be

staying home tomorrow.

luvwinnie's picture

No, but he is not shaking on his own, just vibrating as he

breathes...if that makes sense. Not an all over shake like when you are cold. He is resting a bit better now and is quieter. We are Not getting much sleep tonighht.

Michelle have you checked his temp. since he started shaking??

How about some action?

Zorro has the same kind of problem every now and again. I found out that doing a nice walk, and if possible some running around, helps with getting the white stuff out....

Because of the movement of the whole dog, the stuff in the nose etc starts moving too. He might even start sneezing. Bring some tissues to get the saliva off his nose.

Get well soon,

Ineke
