Our bully in the last few weeks has started to grab things like my shoes or toys or really anything and run away all around the house with it. He will not release it and if you ignore he will chew it up. I gave been trying to teach him the release/ drop it and he'll do good during training but he thinks this game of him is so fun that when he grabs things in the house he won't let us grab it

Thank you all for all the advice I really need it
I have been getting frustrated I keep things put up but he'll go into my closet and grab my shoes or my daughter who's 3 room and get her things.. You are right about playing ruff he gets was to ruff and lundges and mouths very hard.. I just don't want things getting out of hand. I walk him everyday but when he get a burst of energy which he does alot watch out. The previous owner taught him basic obiedience but kept him in a room by himself because the mans wife hated the dog.

Prevention is the best option...
but if he grabs something he shouldn't I'd grab his lower jaw in my hands with one hand and "pinch" it into his teeth while grabbing it out with the other, telling him "No Bite!"...then give him a toy that is HIS to chew and tell him "Good bite!"
Try to keep anything not for him out of reach. Don't play "chase" with him if you can avoid it, always works better to run AWAY from a dog who is playing hard to get, but when a correction is coming I don't like to call them to me as it makes this a negative thing to do.
Also, DO NOT do any aggressive type play with him, growling, tussling him up, etc. He needs to know this isn't an appropriate way to play
Last one
It soulds like just playfulness. Sorry I'd be the last one to know what to do, as I've just given the house over to the Bullies. If they do something I don't want them to do, I say AAUUGGHHT, and they usually stop. I just wear some rubber crock like shoes around the house, and the puppy used to get them and they are a beautiful Houndstooth finish now. I just put stuff up like from a child, and give them toys. They run to get anything dropped and love paper towels and papers.

don't give up on the training..
It takes time and patience to reshape a behavior. People often get frustrated and give up too soon when trying to train. Work on it for just a few minutes a couple of times every day and he will eventually learn "Let's trade!" (or whatever you want to call it.) U
Be sure to use a high value treat like tiny bits of a hot dog or better yet, a Costco meatball. I've never met a dog who wouldn't give his right paw for a taste of one of those meatballs.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

have you tried trading the object for a treat? my bully was like that (only with his own toys not our things - hes never had a problem just keeping to his own things), and i'd have a treat and have him smell it and as soon as he dropped the object i'd click and treat him. and put a command like "drop" to it, and hes still a work in progress, but its definitely helped!

I know what you mean
Buttercup will take anything. She will not give anything back and will chew it up. She steals, tea towels off the rod, bath towels from the bathroom, laundry from the basket, shoes from the closet. I try to ignore her,but she tears them up. I have many towels with big holes in them. If I get a hold of what she has and then just sit down and ignore her she will eventually give it up, but first I have to get a hold of it. The worst is when she gets something that can hurt her- pens, small peices of plastic whatever. She takes these thing from tables.
What to do!
