"Friday Mash"................I am sooo glad it helped!

That was me....I had to come up with something for Friday (my Cocker) so she can take her never ending supply of pills when she was really sick....and it just came to me one day....she loves chicken (one of her nicknames is "Chicken Hawk".

It has been such a help with my dogs, even Floyd at the end. None of them can turn up chicken and sweet potatos!

Glad it help everyone!

YES deaf dog need to build trust and a few hand signals too..

such a cute pic of Friday
how old is she in the pic?

with a few simple hand signals and a bit of help. I have helped 3 dogs that for sure would have gotten into rescue no doubt. all these people were at witts end when I came into the picture. all 3 dogs..the boston, dalmation and the bulldog are all happy members of their families now.
takes time but the dog needs to be able to communicate to the owner some how
I just do some signs...or signals if you want to call them that...not the sign language as we know it.

Gus is at the vets today for the last leg of the deaf dog study.
he is sure making his rounds these days..lol

I am sure he has done alot of good for other deaf dogs..
and really made people from the outside aware that deaf dogs make good pets

Sweet princess!

What a darling pic of Friday! Stella has the same princess hat - but for some reason it's a big smaller on her head happy.gif

We do get deaf dogs in rescue.....

not many, but we have gotten them. It is all a matter of finding what works with them and trust. Their major sense is missing and the fear of the "unknown" is big with them. I did not learn sign language but I kinda created my own for Friday and it works.

Friday is my success story...she was so sick I was told to put her to sleep and I refused. My first rescue (we actually found her abandoned on a side road to the parkway) and I was not going to give up on her. Cute as a button and sooo loving, she deserved a life. I probably could have gone out and bought a new car with cash for how much I spent on her, but I would never have changed anything.

My vet holds me in the highest regard because of my dedication to my dogs and how I take care of them.

Here is a pic of Friday:

Re: I am soo glad! I was so touched at your story the other day.

Gus has been doing alot of that lately.
he is sure touching alot of lives
wander how many bulldogs end up in rescue when they are deaf
was really concerned with Shirley the other day on here with the overactive bulldog that was deaf. I feel he might end up in rescue too.
sign language is a must for a deaf dog to communicate.

my hairdresser gave me the american sign language book to borrow so I could teach Gus ..when I found out he was deaf. no idea he was deaf until he 2. signs were there..just did not catch on..but now that I know I would love to help as many deaf dogs as I can. 3 pupils and 3 successes.
having a deaf dog is true wake up call to deafness in animals

glad that Gus touched you too
he is a real doll and you would totally love him
