FOOD???

You all probably here this question from all new timers, but was wondering what is a good food for a bully my Shadow since i got him has been pooping very soft and watery and i think its the food because he is other wise healthy and active.
So please help if you can.
He is eating Eukanaba now but don't particularly like that brand.

NB Sweet potato and Venison gives great poops!

NB Sweet Potato and venison has given Mack my 2 year old, nice firm poops, they used to be soft and now I can brag about them!!!!!

Shadow's Mommy....

I have had the same problem with Tuffy (now 18 weeks) since I brought him home at 9 weeks. Healthy, active and no known parasites but can't get firm poop. Let me know if you find a good that works!

Best of luck...

I've only been using it a short time

It is a little higher in protein than I would like but I haven't noticed any significant weight gain yet. I hope they continue to do well on this food because I have no idea what I would try next.

doing well? no weight gain?

I put Junior on that for a minute until I realized it was Protein: 32% Fat: 18%. That's a bit higher than he can maintain a healthy weight on. He gets no exercise other than a short poop walk. As soon as he goes, he's done and ready to head home to his sofa.

I've tried many different foods

Some have worked for awhile and then they either changed the formula or for some reason the food just didn't agree with them. Right now I am feeding Taste of the Wild Wetlands formula. I really like the grain free foods.

Puppy or adult

and is it puppy or adult food.

You will get thousands of diffrent answers and really it is what YOUR dog does well on. Depending on the dog and if there are any allergy problems depends on the food you should feed.

Personally I like a good quality food that uses human grade protein sources without alot of fillers and I like to keep the protein around 25%. The first ingredient should be a meat source. Keep in mind that "meal" is all imaginable parts ground into meal.

The last kibble I fed was "Now" a grain free kibble made by PetCurean (a Canadian company). You can do a search to review the ingredients by Googling Petcurean Dog Food. I was very happy with this kibble.

I currently feed prepackaged Raw food made by Natures Variety and I'm very happy with it. It is more expensive then feeding kibble.

Re: FOOD???

Yeah took him today he said everything sounds good and looks good. The stool sample itself was clean just real soft and wet but he sent it for test just to be sure.

Forgot to also say that maybe you should have him checked by you

especially if he had diarrhea from the very first day you brought him home. Is he a puppy? If so, be very careful because diarrhea can result in dehyrdation, which is very dangerous for a dog, especially for a puppy.

I love Wellness Super 5 Mix, the "Large Breed" formula, but . .

it is very expensive if you own multiple dogs. For just one or two dogs, it's not too bad, but I have four.

This is not a grain free dry dog food, but it only has good grains, none of the bad ones like corn, wheat, and soy, that cause so many allergy and other problems. I also like that the first three ingredients are meat or protein ingredients, such as turkey, chicken, and fish. A rule of thumb I try to follow is to not buy any dry dog food that has meat byproducts as an ingredient and that has a grain as the first one or two ingredients. Of course, that is not a good rule for dogs that are allergic to meat ingredients like turkey, chicken, beef, fish, etc.

Also, what works for one dog may not work for your dog. But I did have a problem similar to what you described. Every food I tried for several months caused very runny stool. The Wellness Large Breed was the first one I tried that resulted in solid poop almost right away.
