Getting around Las Vegas
To and from the airport you can take a taxi or shuttle bus. The cost is usually fairly cheap ( $6.00 to $14.00), depending on where your going. Once your settled in to your hotel then try any of the following transportation options.
Monorail
Take advantage of the monorails, they are free and can quickly transport you to another casino and are fast becoming the preferred mode of transportation. There are several monorails, however, they are not connected. Many visitors to Las Vegas are not even aware these monorails exist, so do make use of them. The following monorails are available:
(1) Bellagio to Monte Carlo
(2) Mirage to Treasure Island
(3) MGM to Bally's
(4) Excalibur to the Luxor, to Mandalay Bay
Taxis
Taxis are readily available and are a reasonable option. But before you hop in a cab, always ask your hotel if they offer a free shuttle to other casinos off the strip, or even the shopping mall.
Trolley
The Strip Trolley is available to travel up and down the Strip. It runs from the Stratosphere to the Mandalay Bay with stops at the front door of every major hotel.
Walking
It can be very interesting to walk along the Strip and take in the sights, but do keep in mind that the resort hotels are very large and they may appear close, but it can turn out to be a very long walk. The mass transit bus system is available and can get you anywhere in the city if you have enough time.
LAS VEGAS AREA WEATHER Las Vegas averages 300 days of sunshine per year. With an average annual rainfall of 4.13 inches and humidity that hovers very low, the climate is classified as Admind. The average temperature is 66.3 degrees. We have a great climate and enjoy the weather we have.

Wow, webbie, it could take 2 weeks to do all of that stuff!
I missed all but 2or 3 of those when I went earlier this year. I didn't even know there was a monorail, but then hubby planned the weekend trip before my conference and read all of the stuff! You are right and walking is a long distance. We did it, though, one nite but only about from Bellagio down to New York, New york. It still seemed forever, to walk, but there was a lot to see. It was cooler than I imagined at nite, and I needed a jacket at the end of April. What is the temp there now?
i was born in 1983!

I was looking forward to meeting you too. I'm just a little redneck girl at heart, and I wanted to hang out with the girl from Montana and swap stories. Maybe someday though.....I don't think I'll be able to change my mind, it just kind of all fell apart.
Thanks Gail

When do we start planning all the meet-ups and whatnot?!
I travelled all over England and Scotland alone for a year, and for some reason, I'm nervous about my solo trip to Vegas! Ha ha ha! Perhaps because of my three flights out and three flights back?!
Do we exchange cell phone #s (off the board of course)?
