Its grain-free and gluten-free. No potatoes. I cant take anything else out of the food and it still be food! LOL The chicken flavor says its...

What does the freeze-dried raw coating mean? Is that ok in the food bin or does it need to be refridgerated? Has anyone tried this or have any opinions on it? They have a duck/turkey flavor and a rabbit flavor as well. The chicken is 42% protien. The other two flavors are 35% protien but are about $20.00 more per bag of food. Booger is costing me more to feed than my children at the moment, so I would rather go with the chicken unless the others would be better. I was told the chicken flavor is less expensive just because it's a cheaper ingredient for them to make it with. Any opinions on chicken vs the other two for Booger? Is 42% too much protien?
Here is my original post from earlier.

I have to do SOMETHING and it was suggested that potatoes may be the problem. Feeding my dogs RAW would cost me $120 every two weeks so I just cant do that, though it would be my first choice at this point. Ive been researching foods for weeks now.
there is an explanation of the coating on the website
I guess they coat it with freeze dried food, but I'm not quite sure I understand the process. It must be done after the kibble is rendered, how else would they do it?
It looks like really good food, but the protein is pretty high. You may have to moisten it first before feeding it to get enough water in them so it is easier on their kidney's.

Re: recall spoke w/the customer rep on Monday
The raw meat frozen chicken is being recalled customer rep states that is the only product on the recall which is on the link that is posted.
I have to special order my Natures Variety Instinct Lamb formula canned from my feed store.
It's the same company
but not the same food. They recalled a lot of their frozen raw, this is their kibble

I fed Chunk Instinct for a long while...
...before having to switch him to raw. Chunk was allergic to rice & potatoes and it's one of the only grain-free foods without potato... I'm pretty sure that Rotti feeds it too for the same reason... I really like the Instinct foods... I actually wish they made a Venison or Bison formula because I'd love to have Ike on it but he doesn't tolerate poultry very well.
Good luck!
I feed the salmon prairie- I have not had any problems
The chicken (raw version has been recalled but they have a new system that will improve the process). I did read on their website that the rabbit meal is processed in China but everything else is here in the USA. Good luck. I think it is a good food and my dog likes it better than California Natural Herring and Potato. The bites are small- about the size of a pea but that has posed no problems for Buford.
Is that the same as what's being recalled?
