I noticed today the first four ingredients are meat/proteins. And it is very reasonably priced. Any feedback would be appreciate . . . no pun intended.

Thanks, what about when they become adults?
do you keep them on Chicken Soup, or switch them to another food when they become adults?

Gary, I've used Chicken Soup for my puppies for years
They do very well on it. There are several protein sources, so if there are any issues with food allergies, it might not be the best choice....but I love it for my little ones.

please keep us updated
on how it goes. i'm thinking about trying it also. good luck!
i have mine on premium edge now
i'm using the skin & coat formula with salmon. it's ok so far. stools aren't as firm as i'd like, but i'll give it a little longer. i tried the chicken soup a few years ago. for some reason, it made both my bullies throw up that yellow bile within the first week. i know this is usually from an empty stomach, but certain foods make them do it for no reason at all it seems. i can't figure out what the common ingredient is in the foods though. maybe it's different now. i'll try it again if the premium edge doesn't work out. oh well, trial & error =)
I also had good luck with Premium Edge.....
which is also a Diamond Product. It comes in chicken or lamb and is a reasonable price.
My bad, I didn't mean to indicate that the first ingredient is c
I was just using that as shorthand for the 4 actual ingredients that I couldn't remember off hand. Becky has them listed in her post, and they are all quality ingredients, especially the ones that end with the word "meal," such as chicken meal.

So far it's the only dry food I have found that has 4, versus th
among the first 4 ingredients. Most kibbles have one or two, followed by several grains. It also doesn't have the bad grains like corn, wheat, and soy. I do wish it was not made by Diamond, tho. But the ingredients list is so good that I'm going to give it a try.

I fed Purina One for about two years or so, but it gave Clovis t
but not at first. In fact, when I first switched her over to Purina One, she had terrible tear stains and they went away almost overnight. Then, for some crazy reason, they came back after about two years, even tho she had stayed on Purina One the whole time. I also took my dogs off Purina One because Boo never had firm poop when she was on it and because it had meat byproducts. I've read such disgusting things about the products that make up meat byproducts that I decided to stay away from foods with it. For a long time, it included the flesh of cats and dogs put down at animal shelters that sold the bodies to help raise funds. There is a book you can find via Google that tells the whole, incredibly sordid story of meat byproducts.
I thought about Pedigree but as you noted, the number one ingredient is corn, and that makes Boo very, very fat (that's why I'm staying away from foods that have corn, wheat, or soy). Boo has slimmed down on Wellness, but I just can't afford the Super 5 Mix, Large Breed formula anymore. A 15 pound bag now costs $36 plus tax, and a 30 pound bag is $63 plus tax. So today I bot the next step down, the Super 5 Mix - Complete Health formula. Hopefully it won't mess up the perfect poop she puts out while on the Large Breed formula. Wellness can be frustrating, tho. They have too many damn formulas and many of them have names that are very close.
I'm going to feed Scout the Chicken Soup food unless it causes runny poop. The price is pretty reasonable, especially compared to the Wellness Large Breed formula. I may also feed it to Clovis. Fortunately, she stays slim no matter what I feed her.
I do wish I could feed a raw diet to all 4. IMO, a raw diet is the only real "dog food." The dry food put out by most pet food companies is not really dog food, it is mainly the equivalent of feeding dogs corn flakes year around, dipped in a light bit of meat flavoring. Thanks to Elaine, I've read up quite a bit on dry kibble. From the pet food companies' perspective, it's all about maximizing profits by using fillers such as wheat, corn, and soy. That's why I say that IMO, most dog kibble is not really dog food, tho massive marketing budgets and advertising make most of us believe it's dog food.

i think you misunderstood...
the first 7 ingredients in the adult food are :Chicken, turkey, chicken meal, ocean fish meal, cracked pearled barley, whole grain brown rice, oatmeal- i think gary just didn't go into detail =) i think it sounds really good & it's not too expensive either!
That doesn't look like the best first ingredient
The name is cute, but "meat/proteins" is pretty vague and could be almost anything, so I would be wary.
Michelle, Helen, Penny, Spanky and Faye pup
Gary I just switched mine over this week ....
to Purina One Lamb and Rice. They even have one for sensative stomachs with Salmon as the protien source. I was thinking about what Brian said about chasing the higher end foods and finally going back to the basics. He feeds Pedigree but I was looking at the ingredients, comparing them to Purina One (what I had Henry on when I first got him and what Dave/Webbie used to feed his dogs). With the Purina, the very first ingredient is the meat (lamb in our case). The protien is 26%. There is no beat pulp in it, which iis good in my opinion. There is no beet pulp in Pedigree either but I think the first ingredient was corn or something like that.
I know you are in the same boat I am, with being tired of paying $60 for a 25 lb bag of food that lasts MAYBE two weeks. Boogers breeder was appalled when I told her what I was paying. She feeds alllll of her Bullies stuff she gets from the feed and seed out where she lives. Her dogs are gorgeous. I think everyone was right- Boogers bouts with the horrific tear stains and cruddy wrinkles and rope are just because its "that time of year".
Good luck with whatever food you go with!

Yep, Oleh popped into my mind right away... LOL

I have used it...............
Apollo loves it. Otie likes it, but I think he might have an issue with chicken.
It is reasonably priced and I will keep Apollo on it. I bought the senior for the glucosamine and chondrotin.
I think Oleh does or did feed it for Stanley
I could be totally wrong but that's what I'm remembering.
