We just moved to Denver a couple months ago and I dont know a lot of people yet. We are getting married in Key West in April. The most stressful part of the wedding planning is what I am going to do with Winnie while we are away. I cant bear to board her if I dont absolutely have toooo. We would love someone to come stay here at our home while we are gone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hey Vicki, Yes we are in Denver south of Washington Park. I have
to stay here and watch Winnie. Im so glad I found someone I really really didnt want to board her!!
That person, Vicki, just posted a reply to your post
I hope she can help you.

Hi Emily - I'm in Parker
Are you guys in Denver proper?
I have a doggie door at my house and my neighbor's have always checked in on my dog and filled up the food and water dishes. They also would come over and play the wii or watch tv in the evenings to keep Bays company. Bailey was never boarded, but if you do have to go that way I know a great place in Parker.
How long are you going to be gone?

No, but I wish we did! I loved in there....
just not into winter as much as I should be to really enjoy Denver in January:-)
Dr. G is great. He is not real chatty...he might seem brusk at first, but he is an awesome vet. He loved Sophia, wish we were still patients there! They would not remember us, but they are pretty cool folks there. Just don't take it personally if he isn't super friendly, that is just how he is. But as for a Bully vet, there aren't any better in Colorado in my opinion. I tried the other two listed south a ways of Denver, one said...."I don't know why I would be listed as a Bulldog vet, I only see a few of them a year". Yikes!

Oh, I believe it
I had recently had to go to the hospital for a diagnostic procedure. There was a possibility that I might have to stay overnight. You wouldn't believe how obsessed I was about my bulldogs not being with me for just that one night. So I have a pretty good idea of what it's like for you, especially for six nights.

Amy thank you! We took Winnie there last week and of course I ne
to go in on his day off. I am interested to meet him. I will call there its a great idea.
BTW, That was so nice of you to offer your family I will get back to you if I cant find someone to stay here.
You guys are all wonderful! Do you still live here in CO?
Thanks for your suggestions....We are going to be gone about 6 d
and we are flying. We have a couple stores around that may have some suggestions. Can you believe this has been the mostly stressful part of getting married! What to do with Winnie while we are gone:)
Thanks again!
Thanks so much that would be great!
Call Dr. Geiselhardt's office in Littleton....
He is a Bully vet in Littleton and either he or someone on his staff can refer you to a pet sitter.
Would you let her stay out of the home but not kenneled? My dad and niece both live in Boulder and maybe could pet sit....I don't know....you would have to give me dates and times then I could relay the info to them and see what either one might be able to do. Your best bet is Dr. Tom, he is called the Bulldog Whisperer out there and he was my vet when I lived in Centennial.

P. S. I may know someone who lives in Denver and who could give
She definitely lives in Colorado but I can't recall for sure if she is in Denver. As soon as I hear back from her, I will let you know. And she is a bulldog owner (she also runs another bulldog message board).

Is your honeymoon going to be in Florida, or just the wedding?
also, will you be flying or driving there? If driving, why not ask if one of the many BDW regulars who live in Florida would be willing to dog sit for you?
If you will instead be flying, try to find a pet food store in Denver that sells only high quality dog food, such as Innova, Arcana, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, etc. Down here, we have one called Good Dog Naturally. I don't know if that is part of a chain, but you may want to Google that name to find out if it is. If so, go to it in person, or to a similar such store, and ask the owner for recommendations of good pet sitters. I recently went to our local Good Dog Naturally and got several good recommendations from the owner, including the name of the person she personally hires when she needs a dog sitter. Once you get some numbers, call the sitters and ask for clients who will provide references.
Also, if there is a bulldog club in Denver, you can probably get some good recommendations from there too.
And, if you are not familiar with it, there is another good bulldog message board at www.bulldogdomain.com. The webbie there is an extremely helpful board, and his board has many, many regulars. Hopefully some of them will be from Denver, or know someone in Denver who can help you.
