cleaning facial wrinkles

I wanted to thank everyone for all their advice on caring for our bullies. I have a one year old bulldog that I love to pieces. I'm trying to care for his wrinkle below his eye. This wrinkle gets wet and brown staining all the time. I've read all the previous comments from everyone on what to do to clean these wrinkles. I'm confused becasue this wrinkle is so close to the eye I kind of think that Gold Bond medicated poweder could irritate his eye. Also I"ve heard that alcohol, peroxide, diaper ointement and cornstarch would work too. Still afraid to put these close to his eye. Can anyone tell me what works for them right under the eye.

Thank you,
Sincerely DB

no kidding

i've seen that recommendation too, also mineral oil. how long before that stuff goes away. i've had things like that in my eye (accidently) and its like your blinded!

corn starch

no, we use desitine. put some vaseline in his eyes, get the wrinkles good and clean with the peroxide and dry real good, then use a q-tip to put the desitin in the wrinkle. it will clear up in about 2-3 days depending on how inflamed they are. then once or twice a week for protection.
good luck !

Re: corn starch

THANKS FOR THE INFO, I WILL TRY THIS. ONE OTHER QUESTION, DO YOU PUT A BIG GLOB OF VASELINE IN HIS EYE... (YUCK) OOHH I'M NOT SURE IF I COULD PUT THAT IN HIS EYE :(

eyes

if it concerns you to get too close to his eye then use petroleum jelly. the vets use it to protect the eyes during surgery, and it can be directly in the eyes. if his eyes are tearing and staining that bad, however, you might want to have them checked.

Cleaning wrinkles

Hi,
I've been using peroxide on a cotton ball & drying well. Then I use diaper rash ointment. I get as close to the eye as possible with my finger. I've never had either product irritate the eye. I'm sure it's gotten in the eye a couple of times with no bad effects. That routine has worked well for me.

You should find out why his eye is tearing so much. He may have a problem with the lashes or lids.

CLEANING EYE WRINKLES

THANKS FOR THE INFO, I'LL TRY THE PEROXIDE AND DIAPER RASH OINTMENT. WHAT BRAND OF DIAPER RASH OINTMENT DO YOU USE. HAVE YOU EVER USED CORNSTARCH ON THE WRINKLES?
