Hey, I was just wondering if an underbite is common in this breed? My guy doesn't seem to have one (5.5 months) but alot of people I met state that many bulldogs they come across have a noticeable underbite? Is his common/standard? Thanks for your time.
I wasn't sure (pic)
Untill I saw the frog face picture. I wasn't sure about my Zoey and Bella. But I think Bella's ok.
So I called Zoey a frog face and she didn't like it.
I also won't learn how to spell
. . . or so it appears, lol.

I won't take it as a criticizm . . .
just interested in an honest, objective opinion. I'm not objective. Plus, I can't quite tell which one they are closer too. That's why I would like someone else's opinion.

I would never critique your beautiful girls, after all they are perfect in everyway to you and that is how it should be.
When you look at those illustrations what do you think?
No, I mean, which of the two pics you posted resemble Boo and Cl
i.e., the correct jaw or the faulty jaw?
Thanks, tho, for saying they are cute.

The left photo is correct while the right photo is faulty and what is know as frogfaced. This is what happens when the jaw is not wide enough and does not have enough underbite and upsweep or turn of jaw. We see this alot now because so many haeds are short faced, lacking length of jaw and upturn. Show photos of dogs can be very deceiving because the handler has "set the jaw" and fixed the lips to make the dog appear to be more correct. I like the fact that in England handlers leave the head piece alone and allow the dog to be natural.
The Underbite / Jaw is one of the most important
features of a Bulldog. The head is 50 points of the 100 total in the standard and the jaw is 5 points of those 50.
A dog that does not project considerably in front and turning up of the jaw is a big fault and what would be considered Frogfaced.
This is taken directly from the standard -
Bite--Jaws--The jaws should be massive, very broad, square and "undershot," the lower jaw projecting considerably in front of the upper jaw and turning up. Teeth The teeth should be large and strong, with the canine teeth or tusks wide apart, and the six small teeth in front, between the canines, in an even, level row.
Ozzy teeth
One of Ozzy's teeth is usually out and the other is hardly ever out.
bulldogs are to have a underbite, its part of the standard
the jaw should be undershot but teeth not showing. You should be able to pull the upper lip and cover the bottom teeth.

Some have more than others, Bella doesn't have much of one
Hope everyone has a great day
Ozzy
Ozzy didn't when he was a pup--but at 2 years his is very pronounced.
Mine doesn't either
Short answer? A lot do but a lot don't.
