I cooked chicken and rice for him his whole life. When he was a puppy I used to feed him scrambled eggs. He would wake me up in the middle of the night to tell me he was hungry. I also let him free feed on dry chow. He lived to the ripe old age of 15 1/2 years, my first bully. I will always remember him. He slept on my bed the very first night I brought him home at 9 weeks. Rest in peace my beautiful boy, Bosie.

they are lab mixes, not bulldogs, but I hope it helps your girl too.

Sugar this week, I've done alot of thinking about their life span and wondered if anyone could explain to me why theirs is short. When you consider parrots and turtles and many others why do dogs in general have shorter life spans?

and she still looks great - you cannot see any signs of aging in her except ocassional flair up of arthritis and I'm hoping a raw diet helps to improve that some too

all I can say is thank God for washable ezwhelp pads!!

back then I just thru meat veggies and oatmeal together... noothing measured.. just my old gal stopped eating one day and I was not ready to let her go..so I cooked for her she ate it and thrived..

Although this breed doesn't stand "tall" their body organs are much more like a 80-100lb dog and add to that the probability that many owners do not understand how to properly care for a brachycephalic breed re heat, that they can be very stoic and not show problems until they are severe ones, etc...all that comes to 8-10 years on average.

I think that 10+ years would be an average HERE where we help one another understand more about the breed, but there is the elements of genetics and luck involved too, to be factored in.
And in order to not discourage new bully owners, when asked I usually respond "about ten years lifespan". Its never enough!!

My girl lace was almost 16 yrs old when I had to put her down.. her son, jack 14 yrs old..
I did cook all their foods for the last few years of their life
I am planning for charlie to live a long life..

live only 8-10 years. Most would consider goldens a large breed and Lucy our first lasted 13 years. You can never judge lifespan by a breed or a breed type I don't think. It's the specific animal.

if they live to be 12 or 13. Norbert was 11 1/2 when he passed. And agree whatever age it is never long enough.

I think that genetics plays a big role in the lifespan.

My bulldog, Bo, lived 15 years and 5 months. He passed last February 18. He was my first bulldog. I think a lot of it has to do with the care and feeding they receive. My other girl, died of kidney failure at the age of 12. My vet told me that Bo would probably only love 8- 10 years also, but that wasn't the case.

litters became 14 years 11 month. There are now 2 males over 13 years, and I know there where many over 12 years old when they went to the bridge.

12 and 13 years are good life spans for a bulldog really I would think.
no age is a good age to loose a bulldog or any dog for that matter.

When I was a kid, we had a bulldog who died at nine months, one at 12 years and one at 13 years. The AVERAGE (add 'em all together and divide by 3) equals almost nine years. However, that doesn't mean that bulldogs were dying at that age.

I think some live a long time, but as far as I'm concerned, they never live long enough.
